caves in Krabi
I can't believe we're done with thailand already. I had the most wonderful time there. Thailand is the easiest place to do anything, every time you want to go anywhere there is always a man standing 2 feet away from you with the solution. I like the fact that all the boat trips and tours are all a standard price, the high level of competition means you don't have to search around to find the cheapest, they are all the same. (for farang at least)

Ok, let me back track a little to cover the last week in Thailand... we left Koh Tao on the overnight ferry then took a bus and a sawngthaw to Krabi. Krabi was not at all what I had expected. Initially we were a little disappointed and what was called 'Krabi town' which was no more than a few bars and internet cafe's but we had a day to kill so went on a mangrove tour with some new friends. we hired a longtail (long thin wooden boat with a car engine whacked on the back) with a guide (who proposed marriage) and set out exploring the caves. after the caves we went to visit
Whale shark?Whale shark?Whale shark?

He claimed this was a baby shark but wasn;t sure of the name? help Lauren...
his friends 'aquarium' which consisted of a floating bamboo structure and some crazy fish in little nets out the front. We were very excited to see a puffed up puffer fish, a star fish, a baby whale shark (though I'm not sure if he was telling the truth) a massive grouper, a helicopter fish - all very exciting. He even shared his dinner with us - freshest fish I've had! Actually, come to think of it, I think we had the best food of our trip in Krabi. That night Holly and I hit the night market without a tourist in sight and ordered what turned out to be delicious fresh Pad Thai cooked right before our eyes. We finished off with a thai pancake, these pancakes start as a littel ball of dough and are then manipulated with the most excellent skill into thin thin pancakes, in a style not that dissimilar to making a pizza and are topped with chocolate sauce and condensed milk. yum!! I'm actually glad that I didn't discover them earlier becuase otherwise would be the size of a house by now!!!

Next day was to Railay bay which is about 45 mins boat

This fish span its fins like a helecopter! very cool!!
ride from Krabi, beautiful beach but we stayhed on the 'cheapside' 5 mins walk and 500Bhat from the expensive side. Possibly the highlight of my trip was playing an intense 4 hours of volleyball against a Thai Ladyboy team. It was so surreal to see these pretty little 'girls' jump up and smash a perfect spkie!!! I played with 5 Canadian boys and believe I was the only actual girl on the pitch! that evening was a little messy but when Holly started the evening with her dinner out of a coconut and drinking out of a bucket I knew it was going to be a big one!!!

Our last proper stop was on Koh Phi Phi, we met an aussie straggler on the ferry and took him on board our crew. Went on a snorkelling sunset trip and across to Phi Phi Leh , Maya bay which is where they shot The Beach, to Monkey Bay where we fed monkies, to the swallow caves where you could see the scary bamboo ladders they scurry up and steal the nests for birds nest soup! In the evening, we went to a bar where you can get into the boxing match to fight whoever dares. Holly, sweet little girly Holly contains an inner monster... She got into the right and completly anhiliated the opponent. I was so proud of her and had no idea whe had it in her!!! GO HOLLY!!! wooo. I'll pu the vid up on facbook soon so keep an eye out.

Anyway, after a night on Phuket Airport floor, because we were too cheap to want to stay in a hotel, were now in the luxary of my cousin Billy's appartment in Singapore. We had proper bread, and rocket, and ...wait for it...wait for it... A HOT POWER SHOWER!!!! we're getting our washign done, a really comfy bed and have been fro a swim in their pool!! how different from wha were used to!

Off to NZ in a couple of days, looking forward to it!

take care all

Yeay! Fishy, fishy, fishy!
Hey... looks like you're having an amazing time!! I’m studying for exams... FUN!! hehe As far as procrastination goes… it’s a zebra shark pup. I got a little interested in all this zebra shark stuff and I found a random fact: It gets its name because as a pup it has zebra-like stripes. However when it matures, these stripes change to cheetah-like spots. How interesting!! hehe. I’m learning quite a bit with all these weird creatures you’re coming across. YEAY! Miss you lots – It seems like you’ve been gone for ages! Enjoy NZ! Take care
