So I finally made it to the Bird Park. I went with Yang who I dragged to all the tourist sites😊 hehehe. I don't feel too bad though cause he has never been to any of the places we went plus I think he enjoyed himself. Sorry that there aren't any pictures with this blog but the computer doesn't seem to be cooperating with me today. I was totally excited for seeing the penguins. I love those guys....so cute and funny looking. We missed the feeding but it was great just to watch them waddle around, dive into the water and swim, and try to climb out. Yang found it quite entertaining. So we saw birds, birds, and more birds. Saw some pretty damn big pelicans, ones I've never seen before. Felt bad for the raptors since they were tethered to one branch and that was it. This one exhibit we walked through had some very beautiful song birds, I think. They were so brightly coloured, some yellow, some a shimmering blue. Quite pretty. On the way out of the exhibit there was a large lizard basking in the middle of the boardwalk. Yang had a problem walking past it. He
wanted to go back the way we came but I was like "no you big pussy." Hehehe. So funny. Such a "strong" guy afraid of such things, like snakes, lizards, scary movies, heights. I can only laugh and hope now he doesn't get mad at me for telling everyone this😊 teeheehee. We were passing an amphitheater and heard a show going on. So we went to check it out but no audience was there it was just the trainers practicing. The dude on commentary kept repeating that it was just a training session and another show was starting in 30mins at another place in the park. But Yang and I sat and watched the training session. It was much like the one we saw at the Night Safari but just with birds this time. Birds were doing tricks, like taking money from unsuspecting audience members (well the trainer acted as a person in the stands), flying over the audience, parrots playing basketball, etc. Cute I guess. The last act of the show, the commentator asked the few of us in the stands to be volunteers. Which was cool. I guess cause I'm a girl and maybe I'd be excited to
do be volunteer or that maybe more I'd afraid and sqeamish they motioned for me to take a hula hoop but I told Yang to do it. I know he would enjoy it more than I. So they got 3 volunteers from one side, middle, and other side to hold the hula hoops out in front of body and turned so the parrots could fly through them. Yang was all smiles😊 They had another trick where they got another set of volunteers, including myself, to hold the hoops the same way again but this time 2 parrots would fly in opposite directions and meet in the middle hoop (one I was holding). Pretty neat I guess.....sorry don't know if I'm just jaded or what but I am not that impressed by these shows. I'm just happy that others enjoy it and appreciate it more. After that, we headed for the bus to take us back home. So that is it for my Singapore touristy visits. I'm done. Plus there ain't much else to see. I didn't go to Sentosa but heard that it ain't that great anyway. Meh. Maybe next time.......
So this will probably be my last
blog for a while since I am
finally on my to Bangkok this Sunday! Medical situation takin' care of. So look forward to more exciting travel updates from me😊 YA! I'm excited.....I guess. Been here too long need to get going. Can't believe I've been here for 2 months when really I was suppose to leave on Feb 25th! Crazy. I am getting too comfortable here. Things are pretty much like back home, meaning I got the comforts of home. For example staying with an awesome family (See family...thanks so much for everything) where I had my own room with bed and computer, tv and phone always there whenever I needed them, swimming pool and gym right in the complex (well I didn't have that back home), and home-cooked meals. The language not so much a problem since everyone pretty much speaks nows english. And when I did have problems, I had my friends to bail me out. It would have been more difficult being here without having anyone. Just knowing how things work, where things are, getting around, etc. So much easier when you have friends to show and take around. I am totally grateful to them for putting
up with me for longer than expected!! They didn't even know me when I first came, just that I was Jaime's younger sister. But they welcomed me like we were old friends. Total thanks to Joanne's parents, Kevin and Joanne, Nadya, Yu Yang, and Eugene and Jane. You know will have a place to stay where ever I end up, whether it be in China or back in Canada. 😊
The tentative plan: I will in Bangkok for 3 days, then get my ass out of their and head north to Chiang Mai to do some trekking but first making a stop in Sukhothai, an ancient city for a day. Maybe I'll be in Thailand for 2 weeks or less but of course things could change as soon as I arrive in Bangkok. Will update as soon as I can. So take care everyone. Will be thinking of you.
Oh ya and here's a little reminder to my friends and family, I would LOVE to get comments or emails from you. Just cause I am in some far off place doesn't mean I don't check email. It will only get worse now since I will be "on the
road" with limited internet access. But I do enjoy hearing whats going on back home even if I can't respond right away. And to the random people reading my blogs please feel free to comment as well, good or bad. Me likey.
Lates.
