The first full day in Singapore so it's off to Sentosa island, the island just off the south of Singapore that has lots of entertainment and beaches.

Sentosa is the most southerly point on mainland asia apparently.

I use the subway which uses a smartcard, it's 2 dollars with 1 back if you return the card, and then over to Sentosa on the monorail.

Once on the island there are couple of artificial beaches but when you look out to sea there are oil tankers waiting to go into port - it puts you off going into the water for a swim.

I visited Fort Siloso, the British Fort and learned that it's a myth that the guns weren't used in the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942, they were facing out to sea but they were moved to point towards the oncoming troups.

I also visited the aquarium and saw the pink dolphins and then went up the Merlion, the 35m tall statue that's the symbol of Singapore. It's half lion and half fish.

I took a cable car back to the main island and then back to the hotel.
