It's the first day of the weekend and I have decided to leave visiting other theme parks until in the week in the hope that they will be less busy then. In the morning I went down to the pool for a swim and a read. After lunch I went for a walk down on the beach. After walking along with my feet in the water enjoying the weather for the best part of 45 minutes I thought "something's missing" and reliased that my camera had fallen out of my pocket without my noticing. I retraced my steps and asked the lifeguards but it was not to be found. It's probably floating across to New Zealand ! Very annoying but fortunately I copied the pictures to my laptop the night before so I haven't lost any. ... read more

Off to visit the first of the many theme parks in the Gold Coast area, this one is Sea World and yes I believe it's linked to the American one in Florida. We met up with Lil and drove down to the park. I've taken lots of pictures but most aren't very good - dolphins move much too quickly. By the time you see them coming out of the water and start to aim the camera they are already back under the water. Lots of pictures of splashes with no dolphins in sight, but that's the great thing about digitial camera you can just take as many pictures as you want without having to worry about wasting film. Beside the dolphins there were lots of other aquatic wildlife and since this is Austrailia lots of sharks ... read more

Not really much to say today as today was spent travelling. We left the hotel in Sydney at 9:45 and headed to Sydney airport for the flight to Brisbane airport. Once we arrived at Brisbane we collected the hire car and then drove down to the Gold Coast. We arrived and only had time to collect a few supplies from the local supermarket. ... read more

Today was Sunday so a resolved to have a relaxing day. I went to Hyde Park and watched a game of chess being placed on the giant chess board before heading over to the Australian Museum. The Australian Museum is like the Natural History Museum and has a collection of dinosaurs and at the moment an exhibition of Mammoths. I then spent a couple of hours relaxing in the domain before going to see Monsters v Aliens at the IMAX in 3D.... read more

Today was ANZAC day and there was a huge procession through central Sydney with a large turn out of people lining the streets. We wandered along watching the procession as we made our way down to Circular Quay and the Museum of Comtempoary Art where we had arranged to meet my mums cousin Lorretta and her husband Keith. We then spent the rest of the day with them, wandering around the market in the Rocks, visiting the Art Gallery, being shown where Russell Crowe lives and having a meal by Circular Quay, all the while chatting and catching up. Sydney was very busy with all the bars packed as ANZAC day is a public holiday.... read more
