You Jealous?!
On the beach- Sentosa Island x Well we had to tear ourselves from our beds this morning......... we both looked like we had been hit in the face, our eyes were so swollen from tiredness!! But again the food was calling- breakfast is included in our price- which makes this place EVEN better than we thought!! Took full advantage like always!
Updated blogs, we were very impressed with ourselves and hope you enjoyed reading them................................
Decided to go to Sentosa Island for the afternoon- heard it was a must do..............but how do we get there?!?
We'd been told about the MRT (underground to you English folk!) so thought we'd give our feet a rest- underground it was and WOW how clean and efficient! Tickets issued were like credit cards (we wished!!) which when returned you get your deposit back. WE found our journeys were very reasonable ($2.90= 1 pound). As you might have heard there are fines for everything in Singapore.............. Vix realised after swigging a bottle of water and eating our daily Cheesy Bean curd that eating and drinking in public places was one of them!!! But it seems to work- this city is spotless.............get em fines to England!
Got to destination,
Singapore Worm!
Worm this ones for you! Could never forget the worm!x Habour Front, time for a quick toilet stop in the mall joined to the MRT station, there we witnessed a woman cleaning her false teeth in the sink!!!!!!! (Claire- I know what your thinking!!! yuk!) Made us giggle though!
In the enterance to the mall there were animal statues all made out of pink blossom- to advertise the Flower Show 2006 being held at the Sentosa Island we were on our way to. Very pretty.
To get from the mainland to the island it was a quick cable car ride- the views were amazing, but a little scary!
Arriving at the island, our first impressions were "theme park". Very touristy but lots to do. We were mainly there for the show in the evening but there was plenty to do in the mean time....................Orchid Gardens, peeped at all the preparations for the flower show (some amazing colours!) O and we saw a peacock!!!! O and a lizard!!!! Heard of a beach on the island so off we trotted! We think it was a man made beach, felt very sureal and you could see the Singapore skyline in the distance, plus big tankers! Chilled there for a bit
and snooped around the posh hotel resort! Such obvious travellers to the residents!!!!
Bought some Sprite Ice- woe! That stuff is mad! Has like a numbing effect on your tongue, kinda peppermint............Vix was there for ages wiping the top of the can thinking there was something on it!!!! But then realised thats how its meant to taste- very bizarre!.....but nice! Again another great thing that we don't get in England just like all that great Cadbury's chocolate in the supermarket!!!!!
Before the show, had a quick burger King (O we know!!Mum's yes can hear you!). So this is what we'd come for- The Magic Fountain Show!!!! Well what can we say.................................. the best bit was being able to sit outside at that time of night in our shorts and vest (not to rub it in or anything!!!). The show consisted of a crazy miming host talking to lots of cartoon characters made up of lasers projected onto the water fountains- don't get us wrong glad we saw it but not much to shout home about!!!!! Over looking the park is the Merlion (statue half lion, half mermaid) Tam Tam- special I tell you!......and at the end of the
show its eyes light up and lasers project out over all of Singapore- bloody marvellous!!!
Due to us only being here 3 days a must see was the Night Safari so off we darted to that- not realising what a trek it would be!!!!................................ Cable cars back- in the dark!! Vix petrified with her dark sunglasses on so she couldn't see a thing and Bex holding tightly and a little sickly! No photos- as we were too scared to move!.......................then onto 3 tubes into the suburbs of Sing (nice to see a bit of the non touristy areas) then a bus that finally arrived- Bex nodding off- swear it was only 2 roads away on the map!!!!!!!!!!
Finally arrived 10.00pm and all the travelling was forgotten about.......... wow amazing! Jumped on a jeep which gives you a 45 minute tour around the safari type park............lit only by moonlight (dimed lights!) so not to disturb the animals. Some of the animals were hard to see but we could not believe they were so close and without cages! (Lions, Hyennas, Rhinos, Elephants and Girraffes (Bubba's favourite!)We couldnt use flash photography so no pictures of the real things but got some special
ones for you guys back home!!! Really glad we made the effort to go- it was again a really surreal feeling being at a zoo in the dark!
No public transport this late (midnight) so we just jumped in a taxi, very cheap and door to door so a bargain! So exhausted, got to bed at 2.30 am x
Hannah- I'm sure the spring will get its springiness back very soon you foxy lady!!!!!
Tam Tam- Loving your work- Love it!
Gem- Thanks for the message, I know, typical that you come all this way and the first local we speak to mentions Man U!!!!
Phil- Very impressed!Very!
Hib- not sampled much of the "real" food yet but heading off to China town today so as you know will keep you updated on the food front!
