So the journey sounds simple enough....KL to Cairns.
I'll start from the beginning. It was a sad goodbye to Maher, although it won't be too long before I see him again.
I woke at 4.30am and took the 6am train at KL station to BTS/TBS for my connecting bus to Singapore.
6.5hrs later after 3 stops; one a toilet break, one for Malay immigration ad one for Singapore immigration. I arrived at beach road, Singapore. From there I walked to rail train station and took 3 trains to changi airport. I then had a 5 hr wait for my flight to sydney, whcih involved a 2hr layover and onward domestic flight into cairns.
So over 24hrs later, here I am in cairns!
I'm staying 5 nts at Caravella 149 backpackers which is nice, right by the esplanade - a man made beach and swimming area very popular with tourists. There are also plenty of free bbqs for use And picnic tables.
The hostel has 2 large kitchens and a swimming pool.
It's 35 degrees here today, hot and very humid!
I'm donning a burnt nose already!
I can tell the difference immediately
in terms of costs here. It's so much more expensive than Asia and also more expensive than the UK.
I got bread and cheese and fruit from woolworths to eat by the esplanade and have just had chippy tea, what a treat!
I have another domestic flight booked on the 15th to Brisbane, simply because its far cheaper and quicker to fly jan travel by bus.
I plan to get an early night and head to the esplanade tomorrow.
Love to all xxx
