SIngapore Sunrise
Beautiful, hazy sunrise. The sun was definitely a big ball of fire as it rose. The adventure began early in the morning on Thursday September 24th in Boston..we woke up at 5am, both of us working the day before, but we had such an excitement that it didn't really matter to either of us. I of course was a bit anxious, knowing that we would be leaving the house, the cat, my family for weeks....ahhhhhh. I just wanted to make sure everything was covered and of course I couldn't be more thankful for Al being so calming and reassuring that everything was going to be ok....he's my rock and my light thank god we found each other.
The cab arrived as scheduled at 5:30 am and we settled in nicely at the Logan Express in Framingham. Our 2 backpacks, our "wedding bag" and our carry on oh and don't forget we each have our camera gear and the Tripod!!!! It is a sight to be seen at the moment. I think we both are looking forward to giving away the wedding bag in Bali to one of Al's friends to take back to Perth while we are backpacking for the rest of the trip 😉
Boston to Washington DC was with out issues. I
think we were just so much in a fog from the lack of sleep that we were going with the motions. DC to Tokyo.... almost 14 hour flight! Let me tell you though, it felt like it was only 3!!!!!!! We both decided to stay up for at least the 1st 3 hrs and then try to force ourselves to sleep so we would be would kick start our circadian rhythms. Yes yes we did take some sleeping pills but honestly it worked perfectly. We ate a little meal, watched a movie-I watched Easy Virtue with Jessica Biel (loved it)! And we slept..and slept then we ate a bit, then slept...then landed! Whew big one done!!!!!
United international is no Emirates! I think I have been spoiled; I have only flown Emirates for long distance flights. United had a tv on the back of the seats but you couldn't chose what or when to watch them..arghhhh and no games! arghhh again!!! Food was tolerable, no Emirates though! But was nice to sleep it all through so I wasn't really bothered!
We didn't spend too much time at the Tokyo airport. It was a very nice, quick stop-over and

Airplanes over Changi Beach
The planes were so close, landing at Changi Airport in Singapore. It was so phenomenal to hear them. then on to Singapore! The flight was about 6 1/2 hours, not bad again, we both slept! Guess the catching up was great for us! It's now 10am in Singapore and we both feel refreshed and ready for Bali tonight!
We landed in Singapore at midnight...I had researched so much on each airport ect...and what would be best for our stop-over. Most of you know I spend most of my time searching through trip advisor, which said the Ambassador Transit hotel at the airport would be our best bet. It was booked though, so I researched some more and found this beauty of a place! It's about 20 mins from the airport, the Changi Village A hotel is right on Changi Beach! It's fabulous!!!!
We decided since we slept so much on the plane that we would be able to sleep for 4 hours and get up at 6am and walk out to the beach to catch the sunrise! It was so worth it. Something about walking around a place at dawn is so alluring, so calming. There were many homeless people scattered around the beach area as well as many people tenting on the beach! Even though
there was a plethora of homelessness the place was immaculate. Only a small amount of garbage here and there but as we saw later on, workers were out cleaning up at 7am. The recycle bins were everywhere. I was clearly impressed. The sunrise was hazy as it was stiflingly hot at 6am. Sunrise was at 6:57am so we found a nice pier and snapped away. I was in heaven!!! Well…until the red ants starting biting. I believe I was in mid snap of a nice shot of the sun as it rose behind this bardge and I was blindly bitten in the leg, up my pants!!!!!!!!!!! We quickly looked down and there were a whole mess of red ants! We ran as fast as we could, tripod and all down the pier to relax from the ant escapade!
On the walk back we managed to find a nice local eatery for breakfast. Noodles, chicken and eggs, finished off with coffee, and lychee juice! Mmmmmm yummy. Al went to the counter and did the good ole point and smile and lo and behold, fantastic local breakfast! We love doing that!
Following breakfast we made our way to the rooftop of the hotel and as I type we are at the roof-deck pool, Al is in the water and I am sitting underneath some beautiful trees with gorgeous pink flowers, staring at the water in front of us! It's amazing up here! Flight to Bali leaves here at 630 pm....AFL grand final this afternoon...we're out to find some drinks, food and footy!!!!!!!!!!!
