nytym;-)
love the nyt lyts!;-) I went to Singapore last April 2006. I went there to audition for a theatre training and research program @ Practice and Performing Arts, Waterloo. I stayed at Bugis Village. I thought at first, I would have a hard time, since it was my first travel outside the Phils. and all alone. I did't know anybody there, but my friend sent me contact numbers of his friends so I can ask for help. I arrived there on a friday night, and my first meal...well, I had to eat at one of their fastfood chains that's familliar to me, MCDONALDS!!!;-) but take note, PINOYS, they don't serve rice there..huhuhu.;-) After my first dinner @ Mcdonalds, Bugis Village, Singapore...I had to take some rest. I stayed @ this place called the bugisbackpackers..it's a nice, cozy, dormitory-like place, where the per night rate is @ SGD20.00, and breakfast is inclusive but it's a make your own breakfast, so you'll have a chance to search their fridge and and the best part...to minggle with other foreigners who were staying there too. Sad thing is... I am really bad with names, The australian guy even gave me his email address but i forgot where I placed
ngeshi...;-)
behind me is the merlion..;-) it, I can't even remember his face...hehehe.;-)
After breakfast, I had to go to Practice and Performing Arts' Office for my interview. I was a bit edgy because I had to search for the place all alone. I was afraid I might get lost, but I had a map and successfully after 3omins, I reached the bldg. Unluckily, the office was still closed yet when I arrived there. It was so crazy beacuse I was squatting on the floor waiting for the doors to open. Maybe I was so excited to be there that's why I arrived as early as 7:30AM, well count the good night sleep I had the night before. A few minutes later, a lady came out from the elevator and was quite friendly that she even greeted me with a smile, I answered by saying a good morning greeting. I did not know that the office beside TTRP is actually a law firm office..can you imagine, i was squatting on the floor, in between a theatre training and research program office and a law firm office...the lady i think, was just being friendly or was just feeling my need to sit down on a more
hehehe;-)
posing nasad!;-) comfortable base because she offered me to go inside their office and take a sit while waiting for the TTRP office to open. Whew! I don't want to refuse an offer so I came in and stayed for about 30mins. The lady was I think the secretary of the office because right there and then, she was arranging papers and wiping some dusts on the table..while I was just browsing through my papers to be submitted. And then finally I saw an Indian middle-aged man coming out from the elevator, Thank God!!! because he was from TTRP. He opened the office first and then when the lady got his attention, she told me that that guy is the director of TTRP. And so, I bid goodbye to her. When I went to the TTRP office, ofcourse I introduced myself and he was shocked because he saw me earlier inside that law firm office, he was smirking when he asked, what was I doing there in that office. So, I told him that the lady was kind enough to offer me a seat inside. I think it was a positive note, because I never felt any tension while communicating to him.
he3.;-)
behind me is the merlion jr. Infact, our conversation was just normal...And I thought i would have a very serious interview...We talked and we talked and we talked....I never wanted to talk about politics but he made me talk about it...we even talked about "Flor Contemplation"...the guilty or not guilty plea...and I heard and learned a lot from him...It was a great interview because it never felt like an interview at all. Then finally, because I was comfortable enough...after the chitchats, I had to focus...because he said I need to pass the audition to be the representative of the Phils to join their program. I was sweating like I was cooked in the oven for 180 degrees..(JOKE!!!;-) But after the audition, i was calm. Though I didn't expect a 100% in getting the slot but my friend who recomemded me said that it was pretty obvious....They helped me financialy to go to Singapore to audition, why would they be spending for me if they will just fail me???Still, I waited for the decision and was still crossing my fingers until...
guess what, i will be leaving this december for that 3 year theatre training and research program...I will be the 1st Filipino woman artist representative
hmmmmmmp.;-)
behind me is one of the prestigous hotels in singapore.;-) to study the program...quite a big dream coming true...;-)
