Moalboal - 12th - 14th February
Moalboal was our next stop where we caught a bus which took approximately 2.5 hours. We had pre booked a place but it was in a resort and not a backpackers budget. Every once in a while you need that luxury. However although the staff were friendly it was a dive resort with couples, so the interaction was not the same. We stayed in the first night and drank rum and Sprite and decided to Liven things up, we were the only people still awake and Amy wanted to go skinny dipping. We went out to the ocean but it was very dark and slippy and we could see sea urchins so decided the swimming pool would be a better option. The only bar tender kindly let us use the pool and served us jäger shots as we started to skinny dip and do lengths, we laughed all night and was a great night. We decided that we needed to move on to the backpackers area which we had explored the day prior and was more our style, bumped into about 7 people from Cebu and the bus journey over there (some we remembered, and some not) After a discussion with a local lady on the bus into Moalboal we got a contact for Kawasan falls and Canyoneering. So we decided to do this and called the lady who picked us up from the resort and took us to her home. From there we had to get on motorbikes to reach the falls. 3 people on each (which us not unusual in the Philppines or anywhere in Asia) they gave us helmets and we set off. We reached the first jump which was only 5 metres but Amy decided she didn't want to do it so headed back with our guide, whilst other guides helped us through. We slid down waterfalls, jumped up to 13 metres in the canyons (all fully clothed with trainers)After around 1 hour of this we reached the biggest drop 15 metres from a waterfall. We were there now and adrenalin was pumping so managed to do it. The next few days we were a little bruised and battered but it was all worth it. Pictures and videos to follow (although the go pro died at the biggest jump.......)Our guide just left us to it and didn't really help but on returning asked for a tip and we were told we had to make our own way back. We decided to all 4 get on a motorbike for a 35 minute journey back to the resort. We packed our bags and moved to our next hostel was on the south of white beach, we managed to secure a little bungalow with air con for a little over £8 each, staff were lovely (but all of them are). We met a few more Israelis whilst chilling out and said we would meet them later at chilli bar (only a couple of places to go on the island) we bumped into a group that were at canyoneering and some of the guides and a whole heap of people we had met on our travels) Later that night we took a group of people to the karaoke bar where we bumped into a couple of English people who were very drunk and very aggressive, they had already threatened a guy I was speaking with to 'slit his throat' if he didn't look after me. They became more aggressive and smashed a pool queue and also a dart board which they refused to pay for. I wanted to get involved to calm the situation, but was told to stay away. I then had to give a quick nod to the police to say they broke the things and I said to them just pay it will cost you less, they ended up having to pay the police a much larger sum than if they had have paid the bar. Remember you can always push you're boundaries, fear is something you can overcome
