Dolphins
Two of the dolphins Ocean Adventure
Yesterday I spent the day at Ocean adventure in Subic Bay, it was really quite amazing, the atmosphere I found was far less commercial than Sea World it was more Marine Sanctuary and less commercial theme park than I remember Sea World being. That being said rescued animals who became to dependent on humans and couldn't be released into the wild were amazingly well trained, my only regret was for the second time on this trip I made the HUGE mistake of not checking my camera batteries before leaving the hotel. The day started off with a beautiful ride from the white rock hotel to the ocean adventure that took a lot longer than I thought it would Subic Bay is a lot bigger than I thought when I first arrived, along the way we passed an above ground cometary I have never seen anything like it.. It looked like coffins wrapped in cement with a plaque stacked on top of each other some 4-5 Tombs high, it really was quite the site, out of respect I did not take any pictures however. The other thing I noticed is that about 75%!o(MISSING)f all vehicle traffic is two
Jump
I plan on editing the pictures and cropping them properly once I get home and am not on this netbook types of taxi's the motorbike taxi's with a coach, and the trucks that look like a converted pickup truck with benches in the back. I've now gotten used to the chaotic traffic, and non traditional vehicles everywhere it will take some getting used to once I get home to Whitehorse.
Once at Subic Adventure the first show was the dolphin and whale show which had a surprising amount of information about dolphins, the history of each dolphin in the show and some information about animals they have rescued and released back into the wild. I have to mention it was crazy hot and sunny almost unbearably people carried around small towels to dab the sweat off their face, me I just grabbed a big stack of napkins and kept them on me. It was during the dolphin show that my camera batteries died, after the dolphin show I was able to go meet one of the dolphins, and even jump in the water with it which was amazing (not cheap)but amazing and frankly very refreshing since it was soo incredibly hot out, they took a couple of pictures of me with the dolphin but gave them to me on
Dolphin Surfing
Literally dolphin surfing. Looks quite fun CD and since I don't have a cd drive on this comp I can not post them until after I get home. After the dolphin show was a quite entertaining high dive show which was really great but with no shade on this stage it lead me to get sun burnt on basically the entire left side of my body. Side story there is a white square on my shoulder from where I was wearing my nicotine patch the rest of my shoulder arm is red,I took a picture after I got back to hotel and grabbed my second battery. After the dive show there was a great Sea Lion show with a heavy emphasis on environmental responsibility you really do get the feeling this place is more about helping the ocean and using the shows to cover their costs than make a profit. In fact the food and drinks were cheaper here than at the mall I went to the other day, once again the opposite of commercial theme parks. Anyways I slept amazingly last night as the combination of the sun, and activities drained me completely.
One nice thing about the White Rock is all the hammocks
in the shade you can relax in the morning and evening (during the daytime its far to hot to just sit outside) with a nice cold beer in your hands.
I want to vent how frustrated I am with Travel blog if you go back and look at half of my entries you will notice the pictures are gone. That is because when they were changing out one of their image servers they apparently didn't think to make an external backup. Yes that's right they swapped out servers didn't make an external (see proper also known as common sense) backup, than somehow managed to not copy the images to the new server but delete them from the old server. So now i need to fix about 100 images by finding which ones were tied to which post, re upload them, and than either retype or copy and paste the descriptions. I did that for one post today (8 images) and it took about 30 minutes. So slowly over the next while I will be fixing the images on my other posts. /rant
