Hadn’t been to Philippines in 5 years and I was really excited to be going back to see the family and especially my Grandmother! I was flying out on Christmas Day, but luckily, my flight wasn’t until the early evening so I had Christmas Lunch with Vicky and her family! My sister flew out the day before, so she arrived in Philippines on Christmas Day, but luckily Christine and her family (from London) were already in Philippines and they picked her up from the airport and she spent Christmas with them.
So, my time to fly and Vix took me to the airport. As expected the flight was long, but it was nice and relaxing and I watched loads of movies and eat the great food Singapore Airlines were providing. The only Airline I fly with to Philippines!!! The stop-over was in Singapore, so I managed to freshen myself up and do a little shopping, for my camera, and eat some nice sushi, then boarded to fly to Manila.
I was so nervous when we landed because I was worried about forgetting names and that people wouldn’t remember me. Plus everytime I’ve been to Philippines, when you coming out
to the gate, there are hundreds of people waiting for people to land, so you end up lookinga round trying to recognise faces. Fatima probably knew that, so it was a relief when she shouted out my name and surprisingly, we were so excited to see each other! It was like we hadn’t seen each other for months or something! It was nice to see my mum also. She had flown out at the beginning of December.
So from the airport we went to pick up Caroline and her family (also from London) from their town in Philippines. Caroline is someone I grew up with from a little baby till now, so it was nice to see her in Philippines also. She and her family had flown out with my mum.
So we finally arrived at the house and everyone was there to greet us. There was so many people, we were surrounded!!! But I loved it!!! It was nothing like being back in London!!! The family were altogether and I loved that feeling!!! Caroline was saying how much she loved being there with my family and it was a nice to hear.
After staying awake till
late hours catching up with the family, we went to sleep and the next day was another full day of catching up!!! Caroline was leaving that night and she didn’t want to go. When she left, Fatima was drinking with the uncles and I hanging out with my cousins!!! They LOVE LOVE LOVE the camera!!!!
Very late in the evening me & Cutes drove with Auntie Ofel and family to their house to stay for a night. In the morning Fatima was manning the shop with Uncle Willie and I was sleeping!!! Late morning we drove to Biyaknabato for some swimming and picnic. I had been there 5 years before and that time Cutes was really sick, so this time round, she could atually see it properly!!! We were swimming and eating lots of fish and squid!!! It was fantastic and the scenery was beautiful. The kids were all having fun which I love seeing and near the end, the funniest thing happened!!! Marife and me went walking around the mountains and we stopped off at a toilet quite away from where we were situated. The door lock was a little funny, so Marife held the door to stop
it from shutting and locking me in, but when it came to her time, I accidently forgot and she was locked in the toilet!!! I couldnlt help but laugh because she kept panicing as soon as it shut!!! I eventually got the door opened but it was she was still panicking! I shouldn't laugh but it was funny!!!! You had to be there!!! We had dinner with the family and then we drove back to the Province.
When we arrived back we went to spend time with our counsins at Ate Doves house. We were drinking and eating and Ate Wey was getting so pissed!!! Grandma would have a fit if she saw us all!!! They said that they were only allowed now because me & Cutes were here, but I still felt a little guilty because it meant my Grandma was just putting up with it!!!
New Year’s Eve and all the family came to the house. There was church singing in the kitchen before the eating and then after that me and Cutes gave money to everyone including the little little babies to our Grandmother’s.
The next day we drove to Manila for some shopping
and eating!!! I knew how cheap it was, but it as heaven shopping and not worrying about the prices because they were sooooooooo cheap!!! When it came to eating we were having a feast!!! It cost us £10 for 7 people to eat loads!!!!
Couple of days later, went to see Auntie Baby and family in Talavan. Grandma came also which I was happy about because I always loved spending time with her. We did a bit of Karaoke and eat lunch then we drove to the market to do some food shopping. I love going to the markets and smelling the burning and just the feel of being there!!!
Next day we drove to Manila and stayed with our second cousins who were also Twins, and their family. I loved seeing them but I was missing being at the province. The life is very different in Manila to the province and I didn’t like the attitude some people had in Manila especially the attitude from Rich people to poor people.. But my family were good but I wanted to be with my family in the province. The next day we drove to the malls to do some
shopping and eat and that evening we went to a club to see a live band and eat. Efren and Jackie (from London) were in Manila also so we called to arrange to meet them that evening at a Comedy Club. When we got there, Ef was on stage with the act and they were speaking in Tagalog, so I couldn’t understand what they were saying but everyone was laughing so I take it was funny.
Next day spent the day with the family and went shopping and eat again. We packed our stuff to get ready to go that evening and then went to another bar to watch a live band. The singers were really good and we made a few requests. Uncle Edgar and Uncle Ruping came to pick us up that evening and we had a long and tiring drive home.
Next day we were at home enjoying time with our family and that evening there was going to be a gathering with all the family coming over for karaoke, drinking and food. Again loved the company and the singing and the eating!!!
We went to Enchanted Kingdom the next day and to treat
Biyaknabato
Uncle Willie cooking fresh fish our little cousins because we knew they had never been there before and we wanted to give them something to remember until we came back again! The drive was over 2 hours long and the jeepney was very full but the more that came the better. When we finally got to Enchanted Kingdom, my family were so excited and me and my sister were excited to give them that happiness. I have to say the park was very fun and there was lots to do!!! We went on most of the rides and my coucins were all trying to hold our hands because they were all excited. We eat lots and took loads of pictures and when the fireworks came on they were so happy! I didn’t even notice the fireworks, just kept looking at their faces because they had never seen great fireworks before!!! Definitely a trip worth going back for whenever we return to Philippines again.
Lat few days we were with the family and spending loads of time playing and drinking and singing with the Uncles in the evening and going to San Miguel market to shop for food and take out money from the cash
machine!
Last day we drove around visiting family and the last stop was going to a family gathering to celebrate a b-day. Grandma was with us also, so it was nice to be with her again.
Leaving Philippines was the hardest thing to do!!! I hated leaving my family, but I will be back soon!!!
