We arrived in Malaysia on wednesday morning, crossing the border from Thailand at Pedang Besar and continuing onto Butterworth. From there, we took the ferry to Penang's capital Georgetown and secured accomodation in the "Hang Chow Hotel" (in Chinatown).

We spent a couple of days exploring Georgetown, a truly multi-cultural experience: after ascending the KOMTAR building for an awesome view of the city we visited Mosques (including receiving an impromptu tour of the Kapitan Kling Mosque from a very helpful Indian chap), Hindu and Chinese temples, Chinese Secret society houses (Khoo and Cheah Kongsis), an Islamic museum in an Arabic Mansion (Syed Atalas) and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Little India and Chinatown.
