Its a pretty simple idea, all you require is nice meandering river thats flows past jungles and mountains, a few hundred tractor tyre inner tubes, a dozen bamboo bars with crazy ropes swings and cheap buckets and offcourse loads of backpackers up for a party. ill let you figure out what happens. we've been in vang vieng for nearly a week know and it certainly is the party town of indochina, after the tubing mentioned above everyone chills out in these bars with beds in them playing continous episodes of friends and family guy, then after that the whole town heads across a few bamboo bridges to an island in the river which literally has nothing but bars on it. the rest cannot be said over the internet. laos itself is uber chilled, and everyone is not as in your face as other countries. was an absolute mission getting from hanoi to vientiane, took over 24 hours on a bus where loads of luggage and local people sitting on kids plastic chairs clogged the isle, terrible health and safety out here. hanoi before that was pretty kl, although not as wild as other places, we went to halong bay which had amazing scenery but was very touristy. spent one day visiting a buddist's pilgrams paggoda, where we saw some very interesting meats, full of locals which made it more worthwhile. spent one day in laos trekking through the jungle and it was some pretty hardcore jungle, shane had to kill a tiger with his bare hands. had another day on bikes yesterday, best thing in the world, drove down loads of dirt roads to a blue water lagoon, sensational. heading back to bangkok tomorrow then heading south to the islands for beach and full moon parties. hope everyone is well. much love will x
