It is April 15 and officially the New Year. April 13 is the last day of the old year, the 14th is in between and neither old nor new, and 15th is the first day of the New Year. Things started off slow so we headed to the Pak Ou caves and saw the 2000 Budhas. The boat ride was nice, but it rained much of the time. We stopped at a town where they make rice whiskey. Potent stuff. When we arrived back into town, the New Year’s procession was in full swing. After that, the water fight to end all water fights began. Loud music, dancing, drenching and now throwing backing soda on people, marking them with soot, grease, and water colors was the norm. We took an hour refuge in a spa for massages and then swam back to the hotel.
