FACES OF KYRGYZSTAN- Mr Zee pulls up at the Tajikistan/ Kyrgyzstan border post and I run down the Tajik side for one last look...a river of grey moraine winding down a mountain of maroon, pink, orange and green...white meringue snow from the head of the peak hovering behind...the giant horned goat preparing to leap...my heart not sure whether I'm needing more oxygen at high altitude or just more t... Another flood of memories
Sad this is the last of our Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan & Armenia Roadtrip blogs Dangerous One...time to plan the next one. You guys saw the horseback wrestling at Mughab, so I had to share the horse fighting so you would know what I was panting about at Sary Mogol. Flood of memories...ah the serenity...priceless!

The Donkey Boys
I love the 'Donkey Boys' from Sary Mogol. Great images! I am glad the Dancing Car is is still having adventures with beautiful faces, squat toilets and good food. The Lenin Peak area is stunning. I like your statement of reflecting on the trip in your room. Even the three complainers were thought about - reflection is great! Keep that car dancin'. Dave

The Donkey Boys
Thanks Dave for joining the ride. There is something about chance meetings that can impact the heart. The Donkey Boys was one such encounter...wriggling on those donkeys and laughing throughout. Lenin Peak was special too, Had an ethereal feel as other than Ali & Mr Zee, it was only us from our group that stayed overnight up there.

Interesting landscape!
I have been always curious about the 'stans'...and I am glad that I can read something about it from your blog. Pretty barren landscape with ample sun and less amenities with tough life at high altitude....I can pretty well sum up my thoughts.

Interesting landscape!
Nice to see you back Tab. Hope you check the Tajikistan blogs you have missed. The landscapes in Tajikistan & Kyrgyzstan were stunning, in particular in the Pamir. Makes us want to visit some of the other Stans but after what we have just experienced we want to be very choosey.

Faces of Kyrgyzstan
I love reading your reports, and I’m insanely jealous of the interaction with the local people you’ve been able to achieve on your travels. Makes my group travel through the Stan’s a couple of years ago look like an oldies comfort travel expedition in comparison. Aren’t you freezing your butt off, assuming weather there is similar to that in the US at this time of year? We are freezing our butts off while here on vacation in Virginia, not assisted by messages from back home complaining about the 90-100 degree weather they are experiencing there. Safe travels, and I look forward to further reading.

Faces of Kyrgyzstan
Nice to hear from you Joan & Neil. We did this trip in August and it was hot in the day and cool to cold at night. As my Life ain't easy in the Pamir blog referred to Winter temperatures in the High Pamir at minus 45C in the day and minus 55C at night...way too cold for this dancer from Oz to ever consider a visit in winter. But August...sometimes too hot in the day but often just right. Mixing with locals is what travel is all about in our book which can only be achieved by friendliness and respect...the lack of respect why I was so incensed by the behaviour of the complaining three as set out in my previous two blogs. You guys seem to know how to have a good time...keep smiling!

Amazing pictures and panaromas !
Thanks for reading and posting a comment itzrashmi. Life is always a dance...the enjoyment of which varies depending who, what or where with.

MJ here.... So many memories of your antics and we could not imagine what you were discussing with the boarder guards from our position. Showing them your watch was a puzzle to us. Relieved when they let you cross. I imagine the young couple are still sitting at the boarder crossing. You and your pranks.... kept us moving. Glad we had special time with Shane and the cool kids!!

MJ here
Tough one to reply to MJ. We started as the Tajik Outlaws and ended up as the Kool Kids. How lucky to be together in the Dancing Car where we had a blast and the groove moved us.

Dancing on top of a mountain goat horse?
Now that is an image to picture in my mind. ^_^

Dancing on top of a mountain goat horse?
Bit of a trick to be able to pull my camera out when I'm doing that Per-Olof! As evident from my horse fighting and other horse pics in this blog, the Kyrgyz ride and handle their horses hard. Hard men...hardy horses I guess.

Lenin Peak

Nice to read your story
It is a fabulous adventure you've been on. It sounds like something I would enjoy. Tragic though that some people don't understand how to appreciate it. /Ake

Lenin Peak

Nice to read your story
Nothing like ending a roadtrip on a high Ake...especially on a mountainside under a Central Asian sky. Thanks for reading, commenting and thus joining the ride.

Kool Kids Ride Again!
Wow Dave another fantastic riveting blog - your blogs always capture the people, their way of life, love of life, but also how travel to a particular area revitalizes you. I loved the pic, especially the smiling faces of the kids. And the Lenin Peak pics are amazing! I loved loved love it! Love from the armchair warrior who rides along with you. I'm kool too (in my own mind), just not as kool as you all!!! Can't wait for more shenanigans and blogs!

Kool Kids Ride Again!
Hi Sal. Unfortunately the roadtrip comes to an end...time to dream and plan as my travelling days aren't over. Denise & I are planning a bit of a binge evening...start at the first Tajikistan blog "My teapot is running over" and re-live the ride to the end. Mumtraveller said in front of a fire with a glass of wine or two for the bookset was her fav way to go. Keep smiling and as I always say, "Relax & Enjoy."
