Due the heavy traveling weeks i decided to take some days off for relaxing. So what is better than to spent these days in the best onsen
town of japan. If you look over this city, everywhere smoking baths can be seen. Together with benjamin we explored some onsen, drunk sake, drunk a little bit to much beer and went to usuki. Onsens are a important theme in japanese bathing culture. Before you jump in the extremely hot baths you wash your self totally clean and than it is just a matter of relaxing. We did a couple of baths, like sulfer bath, mud bath, vulcanis ash bath, etc. But the best one was the hidden bath. To get there we had to make a hike through the mountains. At the end of the hike we arrived at a smoking and rocky area with two natural baths. And off course we took a hot and steamy bath, an amazing experience. After soaking for two hours we went back and arrived in the evening at the hostel. In the evening we drunk some beers and sake. Today we went to Usuki, a little traditional town with wonderful preserved buddha sunrise
during the cycling trip figures. We rented a to small cycle and visit the area, a very impressive bamboo forest and a beautiful landscape. On the way back during sunset we made some fun by stunting with our bicycle and making movies of it. What a nice place beppu, but i have to go on, so tomorrow i will leave to the active vulcano aso-san for some hiking. see you there....
