Hello my fellow travellers! After a long flight, with an unfortunately really crappy entertainment system, I landed at Narita International Airport and was greeted by a sign saying welcome to Japan with the rising sun adorning it. I took a deep breath and savoured this moment, a moment that I've been longing for since I was old enough to long for anything. Japan has always held a special place in my heart and I've made several attempts at learning the language but unfortunately so far coming up a bit short in that regard, but I hope that this trip will renew my vigour in that regard, I hope that I'm at least sufficient enough in my language to get around while I'm here. Today I arrived in tokyo. The plane trip was really good since I met an englishman who has lived in tokyo for 6 years! And he told me all about the misconceptions and true stereotypes of the japanese. For instance they aren't polite at all, only if they have to be. This is entirely true since I have been getting very dismissive/ surprised looks in the train, metro and on the street. Besides that I feel oddly familiar with everything and so far it hasn't been a culture shock at all. Everything is so well organized and pictured that it is alot like the west in that aspect. 24-06 - 2010 So the bird has left it's nest. I flew from Copenhagen yesterday, 23-06, around 16.00, and the flight took around 10 hours. Arrived around 9 o'clock. Luckily I had help from Hiromi-san, with buying the credit card for the trains, as well as an quick intro for dummies in how to go around in Tokyo (it is actually quite big) Hiromi-san was the person I sat next to during the flight from Copenhagen to Narita, probably one of the nicest persons on earth! She took me all the way to Ueno-eki(train station) and from there I had 10 minutes of train ride and walk. Arrived around 11am, so I had 4 hours to burn of before I could check in.
