Rebekah Fahey I have discovered in my first 3 months here that Japan goes all out with most things.
Today at MEK, there was a welcome ceremony for the new students. It was very formal in true Japanese style.
There were 15 new children, 12 new Koloa's so 2 an 3 year olds and 3 new Bear students, 5 year olds.
The ceremony was to welcome the children and their parents to MEK and to introduce them to all the staff.
The children look so cute all dressed up in shirts, pants and dresses. My class, the Panda class clapped the new students in and then the Bear class presented each new student with a flower. The mothers and children had to stand up in front of everyone and accept a small gift and the flower. There were speeches of course and loads of photos.
I am getting used to all the camaras and video camaras shapping and fiming away. I did have a bit of a laugh when I saw one father taking a photo of the place where their child will put their room shoes......they really do take photos of everything.
It was very nice to see this tradition.
