umeda
coming out of the train station...i love all the lights in japan! hey everyone!
last night a bunch of us went to osaka again! but we went to a different area, not shinsaibashi, this time. we went to umeda and the 8-story yodobashi camera store. we decided to go there because some people needed to buy things for their camera, and ben actually needed to buy a camera! so we walked to makino station and took the train to umeda from there...we also got to ride the subway again but it was sooo crowded! we were packed in there like sardines. i didn't have anything to hold on to, but i wasn't going to be moving anway cause it was so full.
when we finally got to umeda everyone was starving. so we're looking around trying to find a CHEAP place to eat. lately yasui has become my favorite word (it means cheap)! it was interesting, though, that there were a lot of french restaurants in the area. in shinsaibashi there were lots of italian places, but french was popular in this area. well we manage to find a semi-yasui place to eat. and by yasui i mean like 680 yen, which isn't a lot when you think of how much

more of the city... a typical meal costs back home, but i'm used to eating 200-300 yen meals and buying groceries at the 99 yen store! lol. anyway the food was really good! i had sansai soba, which is soba noodles with vegetables. and the green tea there was amazing too!
after eating we went to yodobashi camera. it was soo big...8 stories tall. the first 6 were electronics and the top 2 were called the fasion zone! so of course that's where me, leilani, and lauren went to immediately! there were some really cute stores and the sales were incredible (like usual). leilani got 1000 yen shoes and lauren got 600 yen shoes...that's like $10 and $6 for shoes! and they were super cute too! i didn't buy anything this time. i'm trying to be responsible and save my money, cause i went a bit crazy shopping in shinsaibashi last week!
we stayed at yodobashi camera for a couple of hours and headed back to the station at around 9. we had to be back by 11 cause ben had an important phone interview for an internship back home. and on the way back we road the most amazing train ever!
french restaurant
one of the many french restaurants we saw in the area the seats were the kind you find in charter buses and it had 2 stories of seating! it was so cool! and also very comfortable for the 30-minute ride back. then we had to jump on a few more trains until we got back to makino. the walk back was a lot of fun too! ben did his famous kyu-kyu rap (kyu-kyu stands for the 99 yen store). we all agreed he should sell it to the store and that he's gonna be pretty famous one day! lol. then we talked about why you see more japanese girls with foreign guys versus japanese guys with foreign girls, cause that's something i've noticed over here...it was an interesting conversation. we talked about how there are different criteria men and women use to evaluate people and how it is in other parts of the world. we concluded that japanese girls like blonde foreign guys and that japanese guys would probably have the best luck in france lol.
ok well we are going to kobe for the weekend. they are having a chinese new year festival there, and a lot of people from school are going there. we're going to spend the
fashion museum
this is the little shopping area where we looked for places to eat night there too, so we can have saturday and sunday to do stuff. i'm really excited! and the best part is that we don't have school on monday cause it's some holiday! this is going to be a fun weekend...
