After dropping our bags at J-Hoppers, we set out to visit the Peace Park. We started with the A-Bomb Dome, which was an awe-inspiring sight, when you consider what caused the damage. We then went through into the park and did the usual visitor things - rang the peace bell, stopped at the cenotaph and then visited the museum. The museum put the whole story of the Manhattan Project in context and surprised us by how complicit the UK was in the project and the decision to make Japan the target.

Some of the exhibits - children’s clothing and belongings really stopped you in your tracks, but we wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

After grabbing some dinner, we headed back for a short rest before going to Molly Malone’s Irish Bar to watch live coverage of the FA Cup Final. It was slightly surreal to be watching a match going on at home, when it was nearly midnight where we were! Suffice to say the match wasn’t great and the result even worse, but I’ll never forget where I watched the 2007 Cup Final!
