I taught English in Hiroshima from 1994 to 1995. Hiroshima has a great park in the center of the city devoted to remembering the atomic bomb. I actually had a student who lived nearby when the bomb hit. They were far enough away that he was unaffected, but he remembered going into the city a few days later to look for friends.

View from Mount Misen

This is the view from one of the trails on Mount Misen on the island of Miyajima. At the bottom of the picture you can see the Torii (gate) standing in the water. That is from Itsukushima Jinja (shrine) which is also in the bottom of the picture, but harder to see. The body of water is the Setonaikai (Seto inland sea). You can see a ferry crossing the water, which relates to the other picture in this post. On the left side beyond the water you can see a ferris wheel and roller coaster, and in the back right is the beginnings of the city of Hiroshima. On the actual photo the detail is much better, and you can see waves in the water and texture in the mountains.

View from the ferry going back to the mainland. Again, in the actual photo, the color gradations are very nice.
