Well - the journey is REALLY starting now. We made it back to JFK - left the hotel early - breakfast buffet looked terrible and way overpriced. We had a great breakfast at the terminal at a good price. I am very relaxed now … checked-in to the flight - super easy - Japan Airlines offers incredible service. Right now Nancy and I are in the JAL executive lounge (we have business class seats) - free Wi-Fi, food and drinks. It IS nice - and we do deserve it. Two hours until boarding, then a 14 hour flight to Tokyo (Narita), a two hour layover, and then a 4.5 hour flight to Hong Kong. We arrive in Hong Kong at 21:35 Friday, 6/29.

Thursday 7:00 PM
We have been in the air about six hours now, would be around 7:00 pm Severna Park time. The map on the monitor shows us to be at the Artic Circle on the edge of the Beaufort Sea. We are approaching Alaska. The sky has been real clear - very easy to see the ground - talk about cold, frozen tundra - I don’t know how anything or body could live. Not even a tree, just ice and dirt (frozen).

We had a great dinner - just finished my after dinner chocolates and Remy. Think I’ll watch a movie and then try to get some sleep. We are only about 2/5 of the way to Tokyo, still have about 7 hours left on this flight segment.

Friday (6/29) 3:30 AM (Severna Park) - 4:30 PM Tokyo
We made it to Narita! Very smooth flight and arrived 20 minutes early. Had to change terminals, but it was all in the same wing of airport. Now settled into the JAL executive lounge - have about an hour before boarding flight to Hong Kong.

This is it for today. Tomorrow will be the Hong Kong adventure.
