hello!
before i forget im adding some photos on facebook because this site is crraaap for adding photos.
i thought id write cos ive got the whole day off today, and i have a week or so of news to catch up on.
well on monday, i had the day off work because i woke up stiff and bruised. i just hung out with jeje.

on wednesday i went out reporting to a place called Kulon Progo. we visited this concert for little kids celebrating the end of the school year. they were only 5 yr old and all wore traditional javanese costumes and makeup and it took all my might not to kidnap one. we then went to a kindergarden (for 4-6 yr olds) to interview the principal. my arrival sent the kids crazy. they were in straight lines when i walked into the school and they all started running and screaming towards and around me. i ended up shaking the hand of all 128 students and about 20 teachers. so i was there a while, and felt very honoured. we then went back to the office where i rushed my article so i had time to giggle with lisa all afternoon.

thursday was even better. we went to this thankyou ceremony that a tiny village help for international aid organisation CHF, and funded by AIG insurance. it was beautiful. the village had been completely devestate by the terrible earthquake of 2006, and CHF helped rebuild the community with long lasting and sustainable projects like water sanitization, capital injections, education, training women in entreprenerial enterprizes, replanting rice fields etc. everyone wore traditonal dress and there was gamelan music, flowers and kids everywhere. the leader of the community, Majipati wept as he explained that no one had ever impacted on the community in such a way - helping them to regain their livelihood while preservning their javanese culture. i did an interview with the CEO of AIG, which is the biggest insurance company in the world. his name was peter myers and he was lovely, explaining that all they did was supply some money (he wouldnt say how much but it mustve been millions) and that it was really the community who made the most of it. owwww makes me want to get a job in international aid.

friday was cool too, we went to the only animal refuge centre in all of indo. it mainly cares for orangutans and monkeys who have been found on the black market. i found it really hard to translate what the director was saying because he has a really stong javanese accent so i sort of made most of my report up... used my OES skills, mr mc wouldve been proud because the editor loved it. writing for tv is difficult beacuse you cant use any emotive language or imagery but you cant just relay facts or it sounds forced. ohh i foun
