Yes, that's right, "Eat, Pray, Love" update. I was really tired when I arrived here and sort of slogged about town a bit getting my orientation. I was going to look for Dr. Wayan's Traditional Balinese Healing but decided to go to the market and the Tourist information across the office from them. I ducked into the market to avoid the rain. They told me to go near the Post Office for internet access and that's where I was last time.
Around the corner and up the hill I found Dr. Wayan's home and clinic. She was talking with a young woman and had another sitting near by waiting. She told me about their lunch program so I sat and waited for them to make everything....FRESH and ORGANIC, each portion labeled with what it does for the body. First, I was served a glass of fresh tumeric juice and watched them juice the tumeric at my table. Wow was that good!
I slowly grazed and watched & listened to Dr. Wayan with her client. We talked and joked together a bit. She asked me where my wife was? I remembered what a big deal that was when Elizabeth Gilbert
wrote about it in "Eat, Pray, Love", Balinese don't have any means to get their mind about how a person can be without a husband or wife???? When I told her I don't have one, she replied, "Not Yet", an answer which is still confusing here but acceptable.
She asked me if I wanted to have a session? Of course I did and she had time right there to fit me in. She begins by saying a prayer and offering at her altar. Then, she scans the body a bit with her fingers, reads the pads on the fingers, thumbs about a bit and then told me what she found. It's everything I have continued to work with Dr. Fritz to correct. I got goose bumps from an energy chill when she was checking out my body (medically speaking).
Her staff began right away by bringing a tray to the table with herbs, pills, potions and ointments. They explained what each one did for the body. Then, I was taken up stairs to the massage area. I was REALLY ready for a massage after the past 7 days of trekking and travel. What I hadn't expected is the
manner in which it would occur. I put on a sarong and was seated in a chair. One man worked on my feet and legs with a paste or Galangal (related to ginger) while the other put leaves on one shoulder along with a warming ointment WHILE a woman worked on my other arm. Hmmmmmmm, three people working on me at one time, this is definitely a first!
From the chair, I went to the table. This time, I had two people at all times working on me with different potions and herbs mixed in oil. They use a leaf for scrubbing the body. Once they finished me (I felt finished at any rate), they continued. More facial work, more neck and shoulder work, Dr. Wayan came over and did a couple things for my digestive tract. They used onion over my closed eyes which refreshes them and takes away redness.
When I was really done, they took me to the shower and one of the men rinsed me off and scrubbed some more with the leaves. Once dressed, I sat at a table with Dr. Wayan as she described the herb packets, leaves, ointment and so forth
she was sending with me.
I entered the cafe around 1:00 and left at 7:00. She asked me if I was interested in going to see a local healer, the one she goes to when she wants help? She will take me!
Since I hadn't anticipated doing that this afternoon, I was way underfunded. She told me to come back later. I just left her home this evening. It started to rain so we sat and talked for an hour or so.
I'm sure I'll sleep tonight being more relaxed and with the herbs she gave me to take!
Now, off to bed....Larry
PS....I had a cold and a cough when I visited her. Perhaps it was allergies adjusting to all the plants and the humidity. My throat had been burning, my sinus a bit raw, tightness in my chest and that sort of thing. Whatever it was, it was gone the next day.

wow
Oh how neat, I want someone to prescribe me potions and say prayers over my herbs :) I'd love to know what they are. Have fun!
