Today was Daisy's birthday. Because bad weather was forecast we decided to organise an indoor activity and a few friends had suggested cooking classes, so that's what we did.

It was a nice tour, we were picked up at 7.50am and we initially had a group of 6 in our pickup group. A couple of guys from Philippines and a couple from Slovenia, all really nice. We were taken to a rice field first and told how the rice was harvested, then to a local market which was very interesting and we even managed to get some mangosteens, a fruit we never knew about but is very popular with people who do know about. We bought a kilo which was 10 of them for $3, so cheap.

We got to the cooking house at 9.30am and we were joined by another 10 people from all over the world, including another couple from Darwin. We had a great time preparing 9 different food items and we ate everything for lunch. What a feast.

We were then driven back to our resort and Daisy had a swim before we decided to leave early at 3pm for our dinner booking at 7pm at Nusantara Restaurant.

Our driver took a longer route around Ubud to avoid traffic but still hit traffic eventually. Because it was so early we elected to leave the car early and stopped at a another temple we hadn't looked at yet, Pura Dalem Puri.

From there we walked slowly towards the restaurant, stopping at shops along the way and arrived on time at 7pm. The restaurant is famous for its set menu and after our big lunch we weren't sure about choosing it, but couldn't resist it. Glad we did, had some dishes we hadn't eaten before and also some unusual mocktails but all yummy.

As we finished our meal, I noticed my phone only had 5% and realised we'd have no way of calling a Gojek car. We asked a waiter if they could charge my phone, so he took it away to try for us. We didn't see him for a while so assumed he'd found a charger for me. Unfortunately, we hadn't put the apps on Daisy's phone and the restaurant. After about 30 minutes, the waitress brought our bill over and asked if we didn't mind leaving as the next booking had arrived. That was fine by us, but the restaurant's wi-fi was very slow and we couildn't get mobile reception either, so we walked a little further to another street and finally got connected and ordered a Gojek car which happened to be just 50m away. We got bask to our room much later than expected but we managed to pack a bit, but knew we'd have time in the morning before leaving so there was no panic.
