My Trip

Snake DinnerSnake DinnerSnake Dinner

Jack and I trying Cobra- really not that tasty
So, I arrived in Bali and because I was arriving later than first planned, and was sick of crappy places to stay I booked a medium expensive hotel (actualy not even that expensive 12 pounds a night and VERY nice). There I met a Scottish guy and 8 Aussie's staying there. The Aussies were from Perth and went to school with the son of the owners Miky who was also there. I had a really really good couple of days.

The hotel was not far from "Ground Zero" where the first Kuta Bali bomb was which was a bit scary. Anyway, there is not much to do but surf and shop and it was raining so I ended up staying in the hotel with the boys and watching DVDs!!!!! One night we went to a restaurant that Miky and his parents brought us to which specialised in meals of snake!!! Well as you all know I'm not one to shy away from potentially gross food I joined them!!!! I ordered the Cobra which I shared with one of the guys Jack. Seeing as we had just been watching the snakes in a different room it was very hard to differentiate

We were taken to this Bat Temple. The Temple was in front of a cave which was full of bats at the entrance as well as a big snake (which we had for dinner that night- just kidding!!)
between the live slimy minging snakes we had just seen and what was on my plate- I was shamefully squeamish, but forced myself to try it. It was very boney and not that nice so I gave the rest to the others!!! I also tried the Python which was meatier and the bones were bigger, but again not great. One of the other guys Ruick ordered Monkey and Turtle sate which I tried as well. The Monkey was really fatty and not that nice, but I did like the Turtle. I felt a bit guilty thinking of "Finding Nemo"- oh well!!!!

Miky also brought us to a bat cave temple which was really interesting and I loved seeing all the bats just literally hanging around!! We were given a guided tour which was interesting as well.

This is in memory of where the club stood which was hit by the first bomb in Kuta. it was very sad and contained all the names of the people killed.
