I had never thought that, travelling could be one of my hobbies, because I am not the kinda person who can travel easily.. I have got all kind of sicknesses.. bus sickness, air sickness etc etc.
Anyways, after I started working, Me and my roommate and two friends of ours decided to take a trip to ooty on a weekend. We were in mysore then, a small but beautiful city in south karnataka. We booked for a tour package through our company travel agent.
Our journey started at 5 in morning, our cab driver picked us up at 5 in morning and our first destination was bandipur national park, which is around 70 Km. from Mysore. We reached bandipur national park by 6:30 am and took the safari there. It was my first safari, we got to see various wild animals like deers etc, but no luck with tiger.. 😞
But scenic jungle made a very good start for the day. The road that leads to ooty is also very very beautiful.. We took a breakfast break near mudumalai, had some awesome idli and coffee. Then started the hilly area. Everything was like a dream, those beautiful farms, small cottages on hills, very small churches.
Our cab driver dropped us at a point called shooting point, it is called so because many bollywood movie shots have been shot here. Anyways, we climbed up the hill, there it was like, we were in the middle of clouds, it was drizzling, we were drenched and cold but still full of energy. When we reached the top of hill, the view just took our breath away. We were running, shouting, jumping like crazy children. We stayed there like for an hour and then climbed down, our cab driver picked us from there and our next destination was pykara fall, it's not exactly a fall, but still a beautiful place. By this time we were completely drenched, we tried to cross the small rocky lake.. but rocks were so slippery. Pykara fall was 2 km walk from the point our cab driver dropped us, cabs were not allowed after that point.. That walk was awesome, with small cottages on the side of road, if only I could stay in one of those cottages forever.. 😞
By the time we returned to our cab, we were all drenched, cold and tired, so we made our way to the hotel. After some rest and freshening up, we thought of visiting botanical garden. A very nice place for the botany enthusiast, there were like thousands of kinds of plants, and trees etc etc.. After botanical garden, we made our way to the local bazar and shopped the home made chocolates and coffee and tea powders.
By the end of day, we were so tired, we just ordered food in the room.. and slept by 10 in nite.
Next day started with an early morning breakfast and the toy train ride to conoor, ride was fun with beautifl scenery, and then our driver picked us up at conoor station. Next, we visited the famous rose garden, but september not being the season for roses, Garden was bit off-color but still we got to see many varieties of roses.
Next we had a nice lunch at a north indian restaurant, food was awesome there. After lunch we visited some view points.. but that's it, in evening around 5:30 we started for mysore and by 8 we were back.
Awesome trip that was.. 😊
