Shopping & Mehendi night

Today passed by quickly. We slept in and finally got moving around 11:30a or so. We went to Karen's parent's place for some food, and afterwards Karen's friend Priya went with us to go shopping and help us pick out some clothes to wear to the wedding. We were very happy to have her with us! The big stores were crowded and crazy. It would have been overwhelming without her around to help us. We stopped by 3 or 4 stores looking for what we needed. Adam ended up getting a nice traditional looking outfit (which cost about as much as my two outfits did! but it's nice and it's silk). I got a blue Salwar-kameez with some beading on it, and a saree(sari). The sari is bright green and pink with gold borders. It was a pain to try and find a blouse to match it though....and one that fit too! I ended up just getting a black one in my size, and a petticoat. Afterwards we picked up some cheap sandals (so we wouldn't have to wear dirty sneakers).

In the evening we went to the Mehendi night, where Karen was blessed by her aunts, the two families met each other, and henna was done to the the girls. It wasn't a women-only party though...male family members and close friends were there, so it was fun to get to meet everyone. I got a simplish henna design done on my left hand. Some of the ladies got really intricate and beautiful designs on both sides of their hands! (Karen had got hers done early in the morning on her hands and feet, and it looked awesome). Dinner was served and it was good....the best part was dessert. It was Gulab Jamun served with some vanilla ice cream. If I wasn't so full I would have had seconds! 😊

We headed home for the night because we have to be up and ready at 6am to be picked up!
