helloooo....... it's been awhile hasn't it?!
so where to begin?? there's been so much that this will be the first installment... hmmmm.... well, last i wrote i was in pushkar if i recall correctly. i loved pushkar, it had a nice feel to it and it was CHEAP! gotta love that!
christmas was pretty uneventfull and i spent it sitting by a little street vender drinkin chai with some other travelers. it was actually really nice but no way at all did it feel like christmas 😞.
while i was in pushkar i reveled in jewlery shoping, awwwww the silver.... some of the stuff was just beautiful!! i also hadda buy a tapestry which was small but perfect to add to my collection of stuff from around the world.
i did the usual there... got suckered at one of the ghats and hadda cough up some money to a "priest" to get blessed (who really knows though what he really was...) i watched him drink straight from the lake too, as he scooped up handful after handful of brownish grey water and slurped it back with a refreshing "ahhhh" after each drink. ok, in my opinion it was disgusting to say
me n my boy!!
my best lil helper ever at hotel aroma in pushkar the least, but to him it was holy water! i was afraid to even touch it although i had to many a time during the blessing seramony. he offered me some, but i gratefully declined saying my stomach wasn't up to par for holy water at the moment, but maybe later... 😉 i got away only spendin 300 rupees, still lots but better than some i heard ( up to 1000 + rupees ouch!!).
after walking around and soakin up the ambiance and tryin to pretend that i wasn't being oggled at by indian men, i hadda make the decision of where next to go. i decided to travel alone again, thinkin that my travel partner had the hang of it and would do just fine alone, if not better. so i decided to hop a bus to jaiselmer and start my trek alone again.
i took an overnight sleeper bus to jaiselmer and froze my tush off!!!! they don't provide blankets so i wrapped myself up in shawls and scarves and still froze! i ended up gettin a room at the artists hotel out side of the fort. jaiselmer is amazin! it's a big sand castle of sorts, a sandstone fort, rising outta the desert and a dungy city surroundin it. the fort is definitely worth seein. it's streets twist and turn like a maze and there's always something amazin around the corner.
i had some good times there. i had an interesting massage, and we'll leave it at that, and had an amazin over nite camel safari. whooo hooo the camels were a riot!! but awwww my butt!! and i had the wrong kinda pants on to and got major chaffin, haha. i was soooo glad to get off them when the time came. i took the tour through sahara travels. it was a one nite trip, a jeep ride for some sight seein first and then we hoped on the camels for a couple of hours to watch the sun set on the dunes. it was beutiful!! the owner was with us and his nick name was Mr. Desert. he got that name cause back in the day he won a sort of beauty contest for the title of mr. desert. he won it 3 times in a row but then a new rule was made that if u've won the title u are no longer eligible, so he then became the only person to have won the mr. desert more than once, and hence the name was then given to him as a nick name. he was very, very proud of it and it really was amazin to hear his life story of how he got to where he was now. we slept out on the dunes, directly on the sand with big thick blankets, cause it gets super cold at nite, but even with them i FROZE! but all was good 😉 i was startin to get used to tougher nites and lack of sleep. the next day we jumped back up on our camels and headed back home. i was sore for days after!
as i came back i looked up at the roof top balcony of my hotel and saw sharuk starin down at me, he had been anxiously awaiting my return i came to find out. i came a few hours late and a few friends of mine told me he was searching all over the city for me, kinda desperately. when i made it up the stairs he was over joyed to see me and told me how much he missed me, all i could think was "oh no....., here we go again!" at that moment when it was very apparent that he was overtly smitten with me i blurted out that i was leaving and had only a short time to get my things. he protested, begging me to stay just one more nite, i was like hell no! first of all he was a married man with a baby and second of all i had NO interest at all!!! as i climbed the stairs with all my bags packed to say goodby to some friends he called up at me yelling "i love you!!" i pretended not to hear and climbed a little faster to the safety of my friends and away from his crying. i told him later that that was very inapropriate and wrong and that i didn't want to discuss it and parted ways that way.
next stop jodphur......... to be continued....
