elephanta island off of mumbai sorry, the pics on here should've been for the previous blog, i'm havin camera/comp probs 😊
merrrrrry christmas everyone!! not too much happenin here though that i can tell. so we headed up north from mumbai on an 18 hour train ride to jaipur. i was in a rush to meet up with a friend i had met a year and a half ago on my travels through guatemala. he was in pushkar, a holy hindu city, and was only goin to be there for a few more days. we were going to stay a day in jaipur to see the palace but i decided to run right through it and head straight towards my hilarious friend jody (it's a guy). after the train ride, which was first class A/C sleeper and quite nice, we jumped a local bus to ajmer which took 3 1/2 hrs and then a packed bus to pushkar that only took 1/2 hr. the bus wound it's way up and over a mountain and had some beautiful scenery, although littered with trash.... but u get used to it and can start to see the beauty beyond the garbage 😉. we made it here to wonder
dobbi ghats in mumbai
this is where all the alundy is done in mumbai the streets asking everyone we could for hotel aroma (haha love the name, there's definitely some kinda aromas everywhere in india, some good but... ehhh.... lottsa very, very bad ones! lol) where my friend was stayin.
finally made it there and ran into him and huge huggs were exchanged. we wondered the streets lined with jewelry, clothes, and food shops, it was amazin! funny thing was that alotta the guys weren't saying hello or namaste, but were sayin shalom. they think i'm Israeli here LOL, i think it's a riot, we all laughed as we hear heard it along our way. the place here is full or priests and tribal ppl. some are real and some are just there to rip u off, but i've been very lucky and haven't had any hassles yet, knock on wood! i even ate at a vender which in this town is highly recommended against. there all these indians sittin there eating this deep fried thing with a curry sauce of some sort in a bowl made of bananas. it looked good what ever it was so i pointed and agreed to what ever he said. i sat down to chow as everyone
around me stared to see my reaction. it was GREAT!!! and only 10 rupees! if i couldda licked the bowl i wouldda haha it was that grrrreat! and look at me now, i'm not sick, whewwww, lucky choice in vender's i say! haha
the days are real nice here not too hot but the nites can be chilllllllyyyyy. the first nite in the room i was freezin and had no blanket. i ended up puttin on all my clothes that i had brought with and hunkered down for the rest of the nite. the next day jody told me they gave him 2 heavy blankets and was shocked that we didn't have any. so i went and asked the little indian boy that was workin and he was very apologetic and said he'd give me one. i thought i'd pick it up later cause i was on my way out but i ended up forgettin and comin back too late to ask for it. hence, i slept another nite without a blanket but this time wrapped up in some shawls that i had bought earlier.
jody told me about this reike master that he was taking lessons from
train station mumbai
and this isn't even when it's busy!! and said it was definitely an experience. jody's a beginner and had to learn all the different shakras. supposedly the grand master gave him his power "i give u power now" and every day that jody practices his shakras his power increases and becomes a healing power. supposedly jesus had this power, but more strongly than any master alive now and with just his hands could heal the sick and they say that it was reike. the funny thing is when jody had to pay and how he had to pay for the lessons. he was told to sit in front of a picture and give thanks to the man in the picture and to give him the money. kinda perplexed, jody reached out and placed the money at the base of the picture while thanking him for his power. the master then said "no, no, GIVE him the money." he shot a glance of confusion and huh?? to the master, how are u supposed to giiiive the money to a man in a picture?? "give, give, behind, behind, put the money behind the picture and thank him for his power." jody did as he was told and chuckled inside.
train station
these guys lugg carts piled high with cargo to be put on the trains now every day for 20 some odd days he has to practice his shakras and abstain from all drugs, drinking and meat to gain his optimum power.... hmmmm.... good luck luck there jody!
my travel partner donny is all into that too and other things... he went there to start his training but it'll be slightly delayed due to a death in the grand masters family. one nite though as i came back to our room i slowly opened the door to see donny on the bed in his boxers, legs crossed, eyes closed in a meditative stance. i closed the door and giggled, it was just very surreal and unexpected. later on the next day he told us how he was holding a pendant, or somethin like that, and was concentrating on it and it began to move back and forth with no help but from his mind. jody and i glanced at each other and began to laugh uncontrollably. we teased him a bit outta good fun sayin he was having hallucinations and not to drink the water.
bad news though, my camera i broke so i've been using donny's camera when ever i can steal
it away. that just really, really bums me out, soooo if anyone out there (ahhhemmm familiy maybe?? wink, wink) would like to contribute any money to my cause of gettin a new camera please feel free to get my bank info for deposits only hahahaha
well i should probably get out there and explore some more, it is christmas and yet it just feels like another day, so i'm gonna spread some love and cheer and maybe a shalom here and there.
