Pushkar is one of India's most sacred sites with more than 500 temples surrounding a lake. Tourists are urged by local Brahmin priests to worship at the lake, which involves the repetition of prayers while scattering rice and petals into the lake, you then give a donation in exchange for the Pushkar Passport - a piece of red string tied round your wrist. Such a bloody con! Like eejits we went along with it! On the second day here, we hired bicycles and set off at 5 in the morning to a temple on the summit of a hill. After watching the sunrise we had the best cup of chai so far. When we returned to where we had chained our bikes, some young lads told us they had been watching our bikes for us expecting the baksheesh. Vin was having none of it and told them he'd charge them for looking!
