Namesde! No more namaskara im afraid we are now in the state of Tamil Nadu and so the language of Kannada is no more needed! The last couple of days have been very different to our days in Bangalore! We left Bangalore on the Staurday and headed to Mysore with Lenka, Hester and Christine. We spent longer than expected here visiting the Maharaja's palace which was designed by Henry Irwin and also went up Chamundi hill to visit a couple of temples. Alice and i wern't overly enthused about coming to Mysore but wanted to spend some time with Lenka and if we were travelling with steve it meant going to mysore. It was an enjoyable couple of days though. We slept alot catching up on some well deserved sleep after our hectic last week in bangalore. After four days there alice and i decided we didnt like mysore at all! It was full of drunks (not just us!) and weird men! So yesterday we took a bus journey to Ooty. We arrived at the bus stop excited to leave mysore and attempted to get on the bus but it turned out to be full! After much deliberation we decided we
would have an uncomfortable seven hour journey stood up on the bus. It wasn't all that bad though, we sat at the front; Alice and steve on the bus steps while i sat on a bag of sugar in the bus corridor! Not only that our backpacks were loosely tied on the top of the bus! Slightly worrying for a seven hour windy mountain journey! After a couple of hours some seats became spare and alice decided to pass the journey by making friendship bracelets (its her new craze!) This craft work attracted the attention of several indian women who all hinted that they wanted one. Minutes later alice and i were making friendship bracelets for all the women on the back of the bus and at the end we even got an applause and an invite to a ladies house!!!!!!! Alice's craft work is still in demand as steve is still pestering her to make him one! OK so arrived in ooty after a fun filled journey. Its really nice. We are surrounded by mountains and its such a change to Mysore. It is quite cool though and we have warned lenka, lisa and hester (who are meeting us
at the weekend from bangalore) to bring lots of blankets! So we have gone from moaning from being too hot to moaning to being too cold! Our first day in ooty was fun (today). we visited a lake and it was quite tacky with fun fair rides, rowing bots, dodgems and lots of candy floss! It was fun though. It reminded us of england. We went on a rowing boat (and all failed miserably at rowing) and went on this pirates ship ride twice which was surprisingly scary! (I think it was mainly scary because of the lack of health and safety awareness!). We also got mobbed by indian tourists wanting a picture with us. An indian man even held steve's hand today while having his picture taken with us! Its so strange, it still puzzles me everytime someone wants a picture with us! We must be on lots of strangers photos by now! So the plan for the next couple of days is to chill out in ooty and meet lenka, hester and lisa at the weekend! You may have noticed that this is quite a short entry but we are trying to make entries more regularly so they
