kudle beach, gokarna
this is where we stayed! Well hello there! We are very sorry it has been such a long time since we have wrote in the travel blog! we are very ashamed but we have been enjoying india too much and our last week in bangalore was hectic! Well we need to recap on loads so ill start of in Gokarna which seems like a lifetime ago! There was seven of us who went! me alcoholic alice, lazy lisa, sssss steve, lenka, kevin and maisie. It was such a good weekend. Gokarna is very chilled out. It is very quiet but the people that are there are wise hippies who have been travelling for years. We stayed in this amazing beach hut! It was 33p a nite and extremely basic. It had a concrete slab as a bed, an outdoor shower and an outdoor toilet! It was so cool though! We were literally next to the sea and could hear it at night. we spent five days there and did alot of chilling out. Our first nite seemed to start of as a quiet one until quite late we decided to drink some run and coke and got very drunk of it! we all went to bed
a beach on the hut
right on the beach which is handy but not so fun if you hate giant spiders and all that jazz! without mosquito nets on and steve and i woke up in the morning with mosquito bites all over us (the pictures say it all!)
The shops were really cool in gokarna and very hippyish. They had loads of colourful dresses, skirts and sarongs and all us girls spent quite a bit (well worked out as a couple of pounds!) on some beautiful clothes. We spent the rest of the time swimming in the really warm sea, making camp fires at night, drinking rum and going on walks. We also spent quite a bit of time trying to go to this river estuary. we had previously tried to walk there but it was very far and thote that it didnt exist. However we then went a walk on this hill and saw the estuary ahead. the next day we took a boat ride to to the river which took quite a bit of time explaining to the fisherman where this mystery river was. We travelled for half an hour in this boat and then realised that it didnt exist so instead turned back. We did get to see lots of dolphins very close by though and alice and i had a
eeek, tara's legs!
remember to put up the mosquito net before you have a special lassi.... big singing session on the boat annoying everyone! It was an amazing five days and id love to go back but we still have Goa to look forward too!
Our last week in bangalore was crazy! We decided to stay another week. Mainly so that we could travel with steve to Mysore and Hampi and so that we could see the children's home project. From the saturday to the friday- a week we were out every night! On the Sunday we went to a rock festival for Holi. Travelling there steve managed to pick the luckiest seat next to a coloured man on the bus holding lots of red and green powder. Five minutes later his face was smothered with red and soon after we were all painted with colour. It was very good fun and received double the stares from Bangalorians! the rock festival was really good fun. We seemed to be the only people enjoying it and cheering loudly which grabbed the attention of photographers and camera men. Little did we know that the next day we were on the second page of the Indian Express and on channel 9 for 30 seconds! We then headed to the
sunset on the beach
ok i am really rushed so cant be arsed writing comments anymore! just look at the pretty pictures if you will :):) rock bar purple haze were we all did some headbanging and got drunkety drunk drunk! we came home in a rickshaw wishing half the population of bangalore "happy holi!". Once home some new interns had arrived. We made a brilliant first introduction by alice introducing herself as Lisa and i managed to do a little dance and a twirl after introducing myself to James! Monday nite we did plan to go shopping but bumped into this Indian man called vicram. He was a dermatologist and seemed very friendly. We then decided to go out and he took us to this really posh 5 star hotel. It was brand new and we all felt way to scruffy. It was too posh for our liking so we decided to head to (what seems like our local ) the Tavern and then to this other trendy bar. we said our goodbyes to vicram and got into a rickshaw. The rickshaw driver offered steve to drive it and of course he said yes. We all had a go and it was very good fun! They are quite easy to drive to be honest but it would be very scary on busy roads! mmm well
we did plan to meet vicram again on the next night but i very much doubt we will ever see him again! Before leaving he asked me to look after his sprint sunglasses. However i forgot to give them him back. When i arrived home i emptied my bag and they had broke! I thought they were only cheap glasses and thought the make sprint was a cheap make until we went to this expensive sunglasses shop in bangalore and found them to be very pricey! I was too scared to answer his calls so have ignored him ever since! Very cruel i know! anyway Tuesday nite we went out with shonali and nitya. Very good fun although the nightclub was a bit boring and the music wasnt great. We got lots of free drinks though and smoked shisha (not a good idea when you have a sore throat silly me). We also played this fun game called taxi where you inhale it and wait until everybody in the circle has inhaled before you exhale. Its very hard when there is quite a few of you! We also managed to fit in a bollywood film before we left. It was
liiiiisaaaaa
this is just at the beginning of the night if you believe! about this 60 year old man who falls in love with an 18 year old girl. Quite controversial for india. It was very corny and not that good. It was interesting to see though and was mainly in hindi so we did well to follow it! Later that nite we took a a minibus home which was crammed packed with indian men! It was very funny and there were about 40 people in a 25 seater minibus! We did manage to see an elephant on the way home though which was standing on a wagon. Thursday nite we went to hypnose with all the new interns (it was so weird last week cos we have got used to just going out with steve and lisa but there was loads of us) it was one of the best nights out we have had in bangalore. At first we were all just chilling out in a private area until some of us decided to get on this very tiny dancefloor where no one was dancing. Soon after lots of other people were up dancing and we danced for about 3 hours non stop! We were quite annoying and kept asking the dj
to repeat the same songs over and over again such as shakira shakira but his reply was "i dont play the same song twice in one night" yet five minutes later he was playing our requested songs! At the end of the night we were all very sweaty and dancing around the room doing the conga! Unnsatisfied with our night out a few of us decided to stay on the terrace once back at the office. Alice and i were greatly amused watching steve dancing to the stone roses by himself on the terrace in his own little world!!!! we had another late night and stayed on the terrace till 5.30 in the morning yet felt surprisingly alert in the morning. However, our tiredness and hectic week definately hit us on friday night our leaving do!!!!!!!! we all felt shattered and werent up to much partying. It did turn out a good night though and it was mostly spent on the rooftop drinking our run punch! (think rum is our drink of india!) It was sad to leave Bangalore but we know that we are going to come back in may before we fly to thailand. Alice and i are
a view from the bus
karnataka parliament buildings planning already what we are going to do and the bars we are going to visit!!!!!!!!! So travelling here we come! Lets hope it is as memorable as our time in bangalore! Will write soon love tara and alice xxxxxxxx
