Wheres Waldo?/ (leanne)Wheres Waldo?/ (leanne)Wheres Waldo?/ (leanne)

believe it or not...ONE of the man-ick-in's there is NOT real!!!
Lets do a quick re-cap, shall we??
We felt like a little change of scenery so we chose to do a trip to Asia... we wanted a little culture, maybe some good food, so we picked india first...and we have most certainly received the change of scenery and culture we were looking for!!!!
The first form of Indian culture following our three days of delirious seclusion in our hotel room came in the form of a jam-packed metro (which is Indian for sky train) following this experience i will never find myself questioning the efficiency of vancouver transit :-·
picture with me the following scene...
mid-day sun...sweat....think about the busiest skytrain you've ever been on and multiply it by 12..then throw a little B.O no, make that A LOT of B.O into the mix. Now throw the confusion of a forgin country and language in there and you have an understanding. ...BUT WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!!! from the time the train stops, to the time it leaves each stop there is only a 10 second waiting period. so after the 500year old doors on this thing have opened and a flood of hot people push their way out youre lookin at a
out of place :-Sout of place :-Sout of place :-S

an akward afternoon in the Sikh temple!! (p.s. this pic was totally not allowed!!!)
good 5-6 seconds to haul ass into what can only be described as a tin compartment of hell :-· once inside, it should be duely noted that much to my disappointment, a short-coming or slight slip-up with the design seems to have left ALL of the handles or bars used for balance a minimum of 6 feet off the ground- thus requiring all the over-heated people who wish to avoid bumping into one-another like a bunch of drunk babies to lift their arms well above their head- i need not explain the sweet aroma of the train.

Following a 20hour train (which was actually surprisingly fast) we were in Jaisalmer- a city filled with buildings made of yellow sandstone, home of the most beautiful sunrise/set ive seen to date, peanty of street cows (yes street livestock..pigs, roosters etc etc.) and of course a good cup of bhang lasi!! We had a GORGEOUS view from the old fort (which was converted into a hotel...and is the highest point in the city) nothing quite like the feeling of sitting on the rooftop and looking down on an entire city of people/watching the sun set.

We've been eating some pretty good food but jens tenancy to over-indulge seems to have caught up with her **MMWWAHAHHAAA!!!!! only set her back a day though, things are all back to normal now :-) GOOD NEWS: im still ok :-)

We went on a camel safari to the middle of the Thar desert (9th largest in the world) watched the sunset and then camped out in tents.
a few key notes about our stay to date:

1- everyone in the group is in agreeance that we've never seen as many stars as we did that night ever before
2- the bugs in india could easily kick the ass of any bug in canada (and if they couldnt...the shadows they cast would be intimidating enough to provoke the flying of a white flag)
3- white people in india are like life-sized cartoons in disneyland- yes, people have requested us to stop walking so they can take a pictures of us...and there is occasionally swarming. (this is only if they happen to have a camera, but it has happened 4 times so far and the tally increases daily. the rest of the time its usually commentary that we cant understand followed by pointing :-(
4-
theres one!!!theres one!!!theres one!!!

(this gentlemen is one of the guys who asked to take a picture of us...a proud moment in sport)
those sweet ass aladdin pants with the crotch seam litterally at your knees are called "ali-baba pants...and i am the proud owner of a pair (soon to be 4-5 pairs as they are easily the most comfortable item of clothing ever to grace this earth.)
5- sunscreen is redundant as by the time you put it on, it has already melted off.

we have just arrived at a little quaint hotel tucked away in Johdopur- its alright and special in its own way..but jaisalmer is a tuff act to follow.

enjoy the pics and stay tuned for more folks!!!!
