Shah Jahan, the same mughal (Muslim) ruler who built the Taj Mahal for his wife's remains built this fort. Actually "fort" is a misnomer because while the outside is fortified, the inner space is filled with lovely buildings and gardens

More lovely columns of an inner building. Many of these buildings were for the harem of the Shah

This is a new, opulent Hindu temple - dedicated 2005. No cameras were allowed inside, what a disappointment as every room, garden, alter was a masterpiece

We entered the extensive grounds thru the east gate. There is a mosque, a guest house and many other buildings in the compound

One of the most beautiful of Agra Fort's inner buildings. This was the Shah's bath house - the marble was still exquisite

Within the fortified walls were many, many beautiful buildings and this was one of the most important - the palace

Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah

Another beautiful tomb. The outside of the tombs are spectacular, but inside there isn't much to see, usually just the sarcophagus of the mughal, which is usually quite plain

Near Agra, this was the palace complex at the center of the short-lived capital of the mughal empire

These women are wearing everyday clothing. Yes, their "casual" clothes are more spectacular in many cases then our western "fancy" wear

This was in downtown Delhi - we not only saw bullocks, but elephants and camels on the streets. And notice the community-service ad on the bus.
