(b) 19/11/02 (day 64)(/b)
Into bangalore at 06:30 at our "chosen hotel"- airlines at 07:00 (lonely planet have got alot to answer to!) Shown four shitty rooms- chose the least shitty one! Rs 680 for a shabby room, no shower (water fron a tap!) and a tv that only had 10 indian speaking channels!! To top it all they didn't serve breakfast until 09:00 (ho hum!)
Went to bed for a while, thn wandered the streets looking for a cafe - eventually found one at midday . Had chicken burger and chips. Went in our first supermarket- which was a novelty! Bangalore is wall to wall shops and coffee bars! Went to email and found out that Bert and Jolien are heading to bangalore tonite- how fab
Went to labagh gardens- really clean and peaceful. Have a large glass house, which is based on the one that crystal palace had.. weird though, as it had nothing inside . Lots of "courting couples" in the park. Went to the government aquarium for Rs 2- which was dire- not quite sealife at blackpool! Saw our first wild snake- about 2 foot long and bright green, whilst walking in the park
Back to hotel and headed to "underground" theme pub to meet bert and jolien with their rucsacs! Cool to see them. Took ages trying to find a hotel for them- they ended up in our shite hole in the end! Went to Koshys bar for food- had the fabbest pork chops in bbq sauce with mash and baked beans! Tried to find somewhere open after 11- but alas nowhere- like being in bloody blighty!!!
(b) 20/11/02 (day 65)
Eventually met Bert and Jolien 20 mins late, due to being unable to unlock our door! (bloody fawlty towers!) Had to get one of the staff to open it!! Went for brekkie (where bri and I went yesterday( ?negrils))- had "english" breakfast; no continental breakfast for Bert- much to his dismay; but did manage to get "black as hell" coffee!! Brekkie was yummy. Posted some letters home and off we all went to the train station in a rickshaw. Drivers weren't to keen to take 4 of us, despite the fact that they will fit 20 indian people in one!!Buying the train ticket was pain free!! Only one person tried to push in but the 4 of us put up a human wall!! Back to mg road- went for a coffee in a western stylie coffee bar! Had a coffee mocha and a cookie!! wot no chai!!
Got back to hotel and packed as we have to leave our room at 07:00 in the morning (another plus point of airline hotel!- 24 hour checkout!!)
In a pub by 17:30! Went to nasa first, which is supposed to be like the inside of a rocket!! 2 good points it was happy hour and they played teen spirit by nirvana(yes there is a god!!)
Next stop was underground for their happy hour- near fire situation going on in there- smell of burning and when asked , they said "you're very safe- its just some wires touching!! Next stop was rock bar (kerrang!) which was called beer guzzlers!! Very dark inside and full of non metallers! Then went for a pizza- which bri did not rate in his top ten. Final stop down town pub for unlimited vodka for Rs 100 each!! Had several and then got indidgestion !! Home ... well hotel by midnight
