Thoughts: Really at 37 I read this too late in life. It is a little adolescent and no doubt aimed at a teenage audience, but funny nonetheless. Interesting and silly offbeat theories as to life, the universe and everything. My favourite bit was when the ship's computer started to sing, in a maniacal voice, 'You'll never walk alone' when the demise of the ship looked imminent.

This book is so short that I read it in a couple of days without even hammering through it, but a welcome distraction whilst I was sick in Mcleod Ganj which is apparently very common in these parts - there is something in the water you know... Also a break from the seriousness of conversations in restaurants with budding Buddhists all here finding themselves in the wake of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's current visit.

I thought that there might be a bit more too this book which seems to be on everyone's 'can't believe you have never read this' list. Maybe something akin to Asimov's robot and foundation series with something slightly more profound to it, but alas no. It is just a funny book poking fun at Sci-fi. But there again I am twice as old as I should be when reading it.
