This is the resort we stayed in - such cozy huts :)
The alarm rang at 5:30 a.m. The plan was to leave the house by 6:30. Considering there were 21 of us going on the trip, and half of us had slept at 2 the previous morning, I wasn't expecting us to leave as planned. Miraculously, we were all piled into cars, luggage and all, by 6:45. At that time of the morning, Mumbai's streets are eerily quiet. We raced through the city and were on the freeway in no time. The road stretched endlessly ahead of us. We had to endure a 14-hour drive before arriving at Rann Riders - the cozy resort situated close to the salt desert of Kutch. The ambiance at Rann Riders was amazing! The huts, the gardens, the food ... all were excellent. My favorite part was the tropical outdoor bath - it was exhilarating! 😊

The barren salt desert of Kutch is the last sanctuary for India's population of khur (wild asses). Flamingos also flock to the river in large numbers. We spent one evening exploring the salt desert and the next evening in camel carts. As you can imagine, a rowdy crowd of 21 people being escorted around the village in camel carts was quite an attraction for the locals.

Traveling with such a big group is a completely different experience from traveling alone. I can't say that one is better than the other - there are definitely good and bad sides to both ways of travel but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with my family! 😊
