Got some brilliant news a few days ago that my brother Jamey had got some work making inflatables for a festival in Goa, about 5 beachs down from where we are!
The festival was called sunburn, the biggest dance festival in Asai and both me and russ had seen big advertising boards with it on everywhere, so when jamey said we could both get 2 v.i.p tickets we were super excited! So we packed up and said goodbye to our beloved Arambol and headed off on the bike. Had one last day in the animal hospital ( waaaaaaaiiill!!!) and said goodbye to my little friends dribbles and ears!
It was pretty wobbely with all our bags bungy tied to the sides!but it was and nice easy journey down. Found jamey half asleep in Candolim ( middle age, sunburnt europeans hotspot!!!) after working for 2 days straight and we set out to party! The festival was MAD, it was like another world, everyone there was about 20-25 rich as f*** inidians. Its the first time I have seen indian girls drinking, smoking and showing any skin what so-ever, seeing them in mini skirts and lo-cut tops was really wierd for us, and
the weirdest thing about them was they were all just babbeling and swearing away in perfect english.
We danced at the festival for a few hours and then tried to get into the after party at a club called Butter club!fest finished at 10pm..sound curfew thing... but when we got there we found our wrist bands were not v.i.p and we would have to pay 1500 rupees ( bout 22 quid!!) to get in, so we thought bugger it and went to a local bar that had beach boys and beatles kareoki! had some drinks there and met up with Jamey and his friend who made the inflatebles, Luke. After about 1.30pm we got bored of the old northern burnt middle agers and headed off on a mission to get into the after party for free! Jamey and luke drove their moped down and got in and then got us both, some how, in for free! Spent the night dancing to dance music...got a tiiiny bit repetative after a while but was great. Spent waaaaaay to much money as the drinks were more expensive than England and a small bottle of water was 1 pound 50!!!
We then all got
on Jameys moped at about 4.30am, with russ hanging on for dear life at the back and rode at about 5 miles an hour to the beach, nothing going on at all so ended up back in Jameys hotel room drinking vodka and whiskey until the sun came up!
Spent the whole next day sleeping and went for some quiet drinks with jamey later before heading off early the next morning for...Somewhere!
We got a map and just tried to find anywhere that looked nice a bit down south, we fancied driving inland on the bike so we headed off to a place called Bondla wildlife sanctuary, which a basically a big national park in the middle of no where with some shacks you can stay in for super cheap.
The drive was beautiful and we went through loads of hills, rice paddys ( I think that's what they were) and little villages with cockrells and piglets running around! It was pretty hard to find as there are not many road signs and once going in the right directing you just have to guess at cross roads and some signs just point the wrong way too for fun!
We got
there in th evening just before dark and got giving a not so cheap, little round cottage like thing. Very cute, but inhabited by some very big angry ants and a toilet that gargeled all night! The forest made lots of noise too, monkeys and birds and god knows what else!
We were miles from anything so you have to have dinner in this treehut type thing a short walk away, with all the other poeple staying there.
After a long sleep and breakfast in the tree hut we set off on the road again to try and get to Gokarna for new years to meet Jamey.
Before we set off we took a ride through the national park, the road got pretty bad though and way to bumpy for a bike loaded so heavily so headed off on the road again. Jamey decided to go to Arambol where we were for a month before and sodecided not to go all the way back up coast to, we also didn't have a very succesfull journey to Gokarna! infact it was mental! more soon!
