So by the time that we've finally got this site sorted we've been away for a whole 2 weeks...and we've already done so much!!
Day 1
Arriving in Hong Kong on our first morning the sun was shining, for 7am it was already 30degrees. After getting our bearings we made our way to our hostel which took a bit of finding but a nice policeman pointed us in the right direction! After freshening up we headed down to the harbour in search of a nice cold drink and food! Before heading back to the hostel we had a walk along the harbour to the 'Avenue of stars' which is a long walk way of famous asian stars with their handprints in the concrete slabs.....we didn't recognise most of them only the obvious ones like Jacky Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee!
Day 2
On our 2nd day we headed out to Lantau Island to see the 'Giant Budda' and monestries had a very interesting bus journey up the mountain on the bumpy roads with a driver who couldn't seem to find the brakes followed by a SCARY cable car ride back down...took about 30mins and and Leanne was petrified.......need
to get used to heights in these asian cities as everything is high up!! For the afternoon we chilled out and went to a couple of the cities parks and saw the animals and then Leanne had to find her head for heights again as we went up to the 46th floor of the 2nd highest buillding in Hong Kong (Central Plaza), Zoe took some nice photos whilst Leanne hovered near the elevator doors in the centre! In the evening we headed back to the harbour to watch the 'Symphony of Lights' the worlds largest full time light show, it was enjoyable but just a bit random!!
Day 3
After all the sight seeing of the past couple of days we decided it was time for some fun and headed out to 'Ocean Park'. Seemed a bit disappointing from the bus as we pulled up but then realised it was spread over 2 halves.....the 2nd half being on the other side of the mountain....a cable car journey away!! Spent most of the day checking out the animals and shows... was a good day out!! Although the rides are spread across the side of a mountain with the sea below
you!
Day 4
After realising that we had done most of the sightseeing things and still having a few days left we decided to have another day out at a theme park and headed out to Disneyland. Was a brilliant day out although small we were entertained for the whole day and even got our picture taken with Mickey Mouse!!
Day 5
With only 3 days left here it was now the weekend so we took a bus ride out to Stanley for the morning. Here we wondered around the market and had a paddle in the sea to cool ourselves down was a really relaxing change from the rush of the city. For the afternoon we headed up to Victoria Peak by The Peak Tramway... couldn't believe the angle that we went up at!! Again being faced with an enormous height, we were well above the skyscrapers Zoe headed up the other 9 esculators to the roof of the building for some city scene photos.
Day 6
We planned to go to the beach but had a well deserved lie in instead as we were still suffering from Jet Lag and only just managing to sleep
properly at night. So, instead we wondered around the city to some markets ended up in Kowloon Mall watching a kids Ice Hockey lesson which amused us for an hour whilst enjoying a coffee.... nothing like watching kids fall over and take each other out!! Headed back to the hostel through some more markets.
Day 7
As it was our last day we took a boat ride around the harbour and ended up in Toys r Us!!!
Day 8
Time to leave Hong Kong...the hard way!! By deciding to fly out of Macau and hadn't done our research we felt a bit lost but made it onto the right boat somehow, we've now learned our lesson to go and check where we need to go and book tickets beforehand!! On the Macau side we then got into a Taxi to the airport which we decided was well overpriced but we just wanted to get there and didn't care!! Got to the airport with about 4 hours to spare!! Had a really nice flight and were really pleased when we landed 35mins early...but unfortunatly we had arrived in Bangkok at rush hour.....and the traffic is bad even in a
normal hour!!! We got to our hostel after a ride in a bus, sky train and taxi!!
