di-sy and jen hong kong style The morning began like all others, early, with a huge breakfast. It was then off to Lantau Island, an hour long subway journey, followed by an hour long bus ride. We arrived in a small village, Ngong Ping, where the temperature was a souring 39 degrees and the humidity was a saturating 89% we were wet instantly. To start us off we ate at Jen’s choice of restaurant where we served sewerage soup, slimy noodles but yummy tempura veggies! It was then gelato all round before embarking on our massive assent up the, what seemed to be 1000 stair climb, to the biggest outdoor bronzed Buddha in the world. After several stops along the way, with people collapsing around us, we made it to the top. Spectacular views once more captured by our personalised camera man Daley. It was then time for our descent. After a round of high fives with our Buddha buddy we reached the bottom, hot, wet, dehydrated and exhausted.
It was back to the hotel for us for our first attempt at packing. Two minutes later we had had enough. So it was off to the red light district for food at amici, and many deserved
beverages (must have been the dehydration). Amicis pizzas proved to be the best in Hong Kong with their delicious wood fired bases and array of weird but delectable toppings. We also took full advantage of the 2-4-1 drinks and free tobacco and chilli flakes. It was then off to the Coyote bar for some frozen marguerites. Diane’s crack of the night being ‘don’t you know who I am, I am the Coyote UGLY’!
A few too many later it was home to pack. After joining some locals for drunken Tai Chi in the park Diane unleashed the inner praying mantas Diane - Bruce-lee - Keygan. With some high flying kung fu kicks up the hotel corridor there was one sprained hami and a sore vag-wong!! After 3 hours of nonstop giggling by the girls we all passed out….. only to be awoken by Andy’s alarm clock at 2am…. A full 2 hours earlier than needed…..Doah!!!!!!! It was then off to the airport via the craziest taxi ride.
