"Alarm set for 6:30am ok our flight not till 10:05am that will be more than enough time baby"
8:30am, "D WAKE UP". Can you believe we nearly slept in? I don't know how we even got up, here's some good advice for travel, do not, I repeat do not go out on the piss the night before. Anyway made it to the airport and we looked like a Donna kebab that had been left out all night, D was looking like she was going to spew but I didn't want to say and then she turned to me. I think I'm going to be sick, thinking back on it we must have looked a right state.
7 hours till Hong Kong I thought I would catch up on some sleep, that didn't amount to anything ended up just tossing and turning so decided to watch a couple of movies instead. Next thing I know we were landing this landing was a bit shaky compared to the last but I have got it in my head you’re going to die you’re going to die, there's fuck all you can do about it so why worry.
We came off the
Toothbrush Glasses
Used for nothing but alchaol. plane and went to get our bags which were all fine; walking through the airport to find how you got out again this was massive. D got stopped with a random guy and I see her hand over her passport I jumped in front and was like don't think so mate what do you take us for MUGS, he responded "immigration" whoops. After showing our passports and getting to the front door it was late so we just wanted to go to the hotel, we got advised that we needed to get a red taxi for the part that we were going to, you get handed a ticket from some guy at the airport with the taxi number you’re getting into just in case you have to make a complaint about them which I think is a really good idea as the taxi can't rip the piss.
We arrived at Hotel MK in Mong Kok, we thought that we were going to have some troubles getting in but the stuff where nice enough and gave our room key and said enjoy your stay. The hotel is basic enough it's a twin room and you have everything that you would
Shy
Who me. need for staying here a bed, toilet and shower. I didn't want anything to fancy as after all we are in Hong Kong and didn't want to spend too much time in the hotel room anyway. We went to bed.
First proper day in Mong kok and everything is so busy this city does not sleep like at all. We went a walk down Nathan road which is a big mother of a road, every other person that passed had a Mohawk and I said to D "I want my Mohawk back" so we found a hairdressers and after some pointing I had a really good haircut.
The second day in we were still walking about like two idiots abroad, we went to cross the road and some girl said Hi to D, D being D speaks to everyone and anyone so a convo started and her name was Coco not very good English but she said hope you enjoy your trip and that was that about 1 min later Coco was running down the street after us and next thing I know we were in a shop buying a map she was writing everything out for D
Something to eat?
D wanting something to eat, good thing the city does not sleep. while I stood outside, after about 10 minutes they both came out the shop and Coco asked my name D replied Michael which Coco looked at me and was like George Michael you look like him. D went into a fit of laughing, half was round the world and I'm still getting it.
The first couple of days here were nuts hardly any white folk about here and not much English spoken, by the third day we wanted to venture out and we got some advice from a friend back home how was from Hong Kong. We went down to the MTR and got an Octopus card which I would recommend to anyone visiting here you can not only use it on the subway but also the buses the 7.11's and other place as well it’s like a credit card with a prepaid balance on it so you’re not walking about with cash all the time. After some looking about on the map we found what part we needed to be at to catch the next train but we just missed one which didn't really matter as within 5 minutes there was another. 3 stops later we arrived at
Tsim Sha Tsui which is MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY.............. MONEY, every designer shop it’s there, one shop had a guard at the front door and was only letting one person in at a time and people where queuing to get in.
I needed a drink as everywhere we had seen so far there was no pubs even the supermarkets over here only have half and isle of booze which is shocking to me as in Scotland we have nearly 5 rows dedicated to the stuff. We went into the first bar that we see and got baileys after that we see another bar on the same street with and upstairs view it was a Cuba Che Guevara themed which was great so we ordered a couple of drinks there and meet a couple of Australians who were really nice I had a nice cigar after we got a little drunk we grab a quick bite to eat at See Fah which was really nice.
Woke up the next day and got right on to the MTR and into central again which is great we decided to go into the space museum as it was free admission which was
fun we went about had a laugh we queued for a flight simulator D went up first put it this way if it was real then she would have been dead within the first 5 minutes but then again I was not really that much better. We then decided to go a walk down to the pier this is where we booked our symphony of lights tour for the next day D was looking forward to this after all it is a world record for the most buildings running up there electric bill the same time every night for ever. We were chocking for a wee drink and after some searching came across an Irish pub named the shamrock. We started to get drunk as you do and introduced our self’s to the guy sitting next to us having a beer, he ended up being the owner of the new pizza place across the road named Tectonic pizza he said that he only had been open about three weeks in total, Roy was very kind to show us on our handy map where to go and what not to do, he had to go back to work so we continued
che guevara
excited to see more of Hong Kong to drink. After getting pished D wanted some pizza so we jumped over to Roy’s and got the best pizza ever he also gave us some chicken wings and if you like chicken wings and pizza this place is a must if you’re in Hong Kong, if you do go in tell Roy I said hi.
After our pizza and wings we walked up to the pubs Roy sent us too and fell down at a pub called Baha Mama’s on knutsford terrace. This is when the night started to into a blur and the only reason I know we made it to the MTR safe and right home is because of the photos that followed.
