Hong Kong is pretty cool and it's all thanks to my two fantastic hosts John & Carmi. It helps when you are somewhere that you are not used to, to have people to show you around and take you places where you wouldnt normally possibly find.
I was hoping to relax and get a tan while here, but to arrive with a Typhoon warning kinda wrecked all of that for me. The first day out exploring, I feasted into traditional Won Ton Noodle Soup, walked around the streets and got caught in the rain, causing us to stay indoors all night, but I didn't mind as I was still a little jetlagged.
My second day exploring Hong Kong was a long one. We woke up to have lunch at the Marco Polo's La Cucina Restaurant, as John's friend Giovanni runs it and we got seated with the best views overlooking the harbour. Out of Italian or Chinese food, I opted for Chinese as I wont be eating it once I get to Italia and tried some more types of Won Tons lol ... plus the weirdest hot papaya sweet soup desert ever. We made a move then as it was getting
Yum Soup
The best Wonton Soup ever! late and caught a ferry over to Hong Kong Island and then a bus all the way to The Peak. It took ages to get to the top, the double decker bus had to pass every damn street and i couldnt help but nod off a few times too, we passed many gorgeous houses, ferraris, maseratis etc as this is the Vaucluse of Hong Kong. Once at the top we walked around the Malls and then went over to take photos of the amazing view of Hong Kong. Back down we took a tram, a very steep tram while getting perved on by a bunch of Indians, who pretended to take fotos of themselves but I could tell they were filming my boobs - perverts!
Back into the city, taking the MTR, Carmi and I bought some great cheap cosmetics - I even got some asian brands I have never heard of! And then went back to the apartment to get ready for tonight. I took 2 antihistamines as I'm majorly congested with this humidity and air conditioning, I fell asleep, but still felt like crap when we went to Il Maestros for dinner. Met up with a bunch of
Johns friends and we went downstairs to a bar called "Sticky Fingers" for freepour drinks and a live band. It was great, the atmosphere was great but I coulnt keep my eyes open - figuring out later that the damn antihistamines were drowsy, no wonder it threw me out of wack!
The next morning, I went with Carmi to Church and returned to go with John to Mong Kok Ladies Markets. Talk about the true Hong Kong experience, it was hot, humid and stinky, but the markets went on and on and I bought the best pretty great copied bags. The first purchase was a nice Louis Vuitton bag which only cost me $100 AUD, then over to another store we got led by the owners to a "top secret location", where I was led into a room full of bags and of cause after freaking out with the selection, I opted for a Louis Vuitton Clutch & a Miu Miu Bag as the Jimmy Choo Bag I left behind was too much - I've got expensive taste! 😊 Also bought 2 pairs of Converse shoes & a bracelet.
Back to the apartment, we got ready to go out and
met up with Johns friends again, this time going to Soho, a classy area, full of restaurants and bars where a lot of Westerners hang out. I had the best cocktail - peach schnapps, lychees and cranberry juice! Back over to Sticky Fingers we drank some more, the band played "O'Sweet Child of Mine" for me and we had more and more drinks - flamming Sambuca, where we had to suck up the fumes after taking the shot (weirdest feeling ever) & then a lemon drop which is a ring of sugar, vodka with lemon juice and then a slice of lemon to suck at the end - yummy!
This morning we woke up pretty late, I tried to pack with all my purchases (fuck!) and then went out to have sushi. Went and got my hair blowdried (blow waved, the guy just scrunched it oh well), walked back and bought some more shoes lol and then relaxed before getting to the airport.
Hong Kong is pretty cool, quite multicultural in terms of cuisines, heaps of Filipinos abroad too which I never knew and sooooo cheap - def would come again!
