my beautiful lippo centre building
I fell in love with these 2 buildings last time, they represent 2 koalas climbing a tree DAY 3- 29TH JANUARY 2010
Today we headed off to the Island to have a look at shopping and culture.
We caught the bus to the star ferry for the trip across the harbour.
Unfortunately when boarding the bus, I really hurt my leg and was in agony, so it was a really slow walking day and a lot of pain.
I couldn't get up the stairs to the top deck of the ferry, so we went cattle class.
We arrived in Central & paid our $50HK, which gave us an all day pass on the sight seeing bus. I told the girls to sit up top for the best view of the city, open top - they froze (I would have loved to, but couldn't get up the stairs
The first loop took about an hour and did the old side of HK, very old and cultural.
We then had lunch at the IFC mall.
We then did the second loop which was the newer part of the city & the shopping areas. We did a full loop then got off at times square the second time around. I just sat at a starbucks while they had a look around
ding dong tram
these run along the length of the Island for 90 minutes. They were both disappointed and bought nothing. Too expensive, 13 floors of mall.
We left the mall around 5pm and the crowds on the street were amazing. We walked to SOGO to have a look, once again a huge mall, japanese this time. Unfortunately everyone had left work and it was a madhouse!
After that we went to SASA, a huge cosmetic chain here. It will was on 2 levels, so I will wait for one on one level. After 60 minutes, Faye & Shan came out with full bags, amazed at the prices.
Off to the Causeway Bay MTR (subway). WOW - we got swept along with the crowd. The trains come every 2-3 minutes & we were jammed in like sardines. 3 stops until Ya ma Tai. Got out and looked for the 7 bus back to the hotel, walked for ages and realised we were on the wrong side of the road & heading to the harbour! retraced our steps and finally go on the right bus.
We arrived back at the hotel thinking we had 30 minutes of happy hour left headed to the lounge as we weren't hungry and we looked at
our watches wrong - it was 8pm not 7pm!
We went to a little cafe 2 doors down & had dinner, nothing special, we really weren't hungry.
Relating back to the ice cream prices, we had a meal (soup for Faye & I & sandwich for Shan, with drinks included) for less than the milkshake! Around $5 each! We now relate evweything to milkshake prices :=)
Off to the room and to bed, slept a little more. Bought some tiger balm to rub on my leg & in the middle of the night the heat kicked in, hope it helps today. Off to the nunnery & gardens then hitting ladies market!
Our pillow message Said sunny today, I hope so, it has been very grey so far, but no rain.
Excuse the spelling, I am typing this in the dark as Shan sleeps!
