I left home at about 8:30 in the morning and started in Hannover at 11am. My flight was pretty easy and I even got some snacks and drink – it was a 30minutes flight to Frankfurt 😉. Well and in Frankfurt I made it about in time to get to my connecting flight to Hong Kong!
So here I am writing on my iPod to let you guys know about the first hours in China!
But first of all let me tell you one thing- long distant flights suck!!
Especially when you are alone AND sick! You don’t feel like watching movies but you can’t sleep either. Like me catching a cold just a day before departure….
Well now here I am at Hong Kong international Airport and I have to tell you – I am loving it! Not because of all the nice shops and the really nice people but because of the free Wifi! I mean I am used to German standards where you get 30 minutes free or gotta pay way to much for an hour (5€!!)
But getting back to my flight
I actually met another CBS student in Frankfurt –
what a coincident! But unfortunately she was sitting way in the back and we didn’t really get to talk, except for my occasional hellos when I was passing by on my way to the lavatory. At this point I have to say sorry to the people in my row, because I got up waaay to often during this flight! And since I am always annoyed by people who are constantly climbing over me I can only imagine how they felt! Thing is – when you’re sick and you can’t breathe your throat gets dry (even dryer due to the shitty air in the airplane) and then you start to drink and drink and drink….well I think you get my point…
My flight was operated by Cathay Airways – pretty nice but I think it is strange that you cannot really bend your seat but just adjust it! Plus I managed to damage the (already damaged) remote control within the first 30 minutes of the flight. I tried to put it back in the slot and it got stuck. So for the first 2 hours of my 10:30h flight I tried using it without getting a proper view on it
because the conveniently located it within the armrest… I managed to get it loose again though (huuuuge effort!!) and that’s the way it stayed until the end of the flight XD
The entertainment was ok but I am a little sad because I forgot that I really wanted to watch a movie but by the time I remembered it was almost too late! So I was only able to watch about 2/3 of it and I don’t know how it ends!!(For all who are interested – the title is “
We need to talk about Kevin ” )
Well and then it was a 6 hour wait at the really cold Hong Kong Airport…
