Well hello & welcome to the third instalment of Hong Kong blog.
I trust everyone is well & enjoying the cold in their respective countries?
It is actually starting to get a tiny bit nippy here, who’d of thought it?!
Everything is good here, still very busy & struggling to find time to do everything I want.
So to recap last week:
Monday was a public holiday here in HK so group of us went to a beach on HK island & enjoyed relaxing in the sun & swimming in the semi-questionable water. Great day all-round.
Tuesday morning I was on a film shoot in a posh law firm in a massive sky scraper! It was a boring shoot of a partner (Chinglish woman with perfect Queens English) doing a piece to camera. Yawn.
Wednesday & Friday saw me filming in a MASSIVE factory for a big company called Vitasoy who make soy milk products & distilled water/juices. Again nothing very exciting but cool to be inside a 14 floor factory & see more of HK. On shoots I don’t (obviously) get much creative freedom as I’m essentially a helper, but its interesting watching
relationships & gleaning information about lights, camera, producer, director etc.
Thursday was just spent in the office doing standard office stuff.
Saturday was Halloween & what a mad experience that was! Our/my night progressed something like this: Buy nothing to wear so put lip stick on as a last ditch effort to ‘make an effort’, head into central to then get sidetracked to HK ferry pier to go on cruise followed by beach party, an hour & a half of waiting leads promptly to hearing boats cancelled, two double decker buses turn up with DJ’s on, free Champaign, drive around HK & Kowloon for 3 hours with great music, crazy views & lots of yelling, police pull over bus, leave fast, get on other bus, get in taxi, now in central, its madness & its 3am, get a taxi, McDonalds breakfast menu, bed. Oh & the whole night was free! Good times.
I’ve now been here a month. Madness. It feels more like 15 minutes. I’ve defiantly learnt allot about production company life & seen first hand what goes into commissioning a show through to post production.
Well I’d like to write more, I really would, but
I’m very tired & need to sleep. I hope you enjoy the pic’s & videos I’ve uploaded.
Much love, all the best, etc, etc,
David in HK.
