Chiang Mai is one of the hottest spots on Thailand’s tourism map to Vietnamese tourists thanks to the charming landscapes and the tranquil atmosphere. Distinctly located in northern Thailand, surrounded by majestic hills and mountains, the weather in Chiang Mai is significantly cooler than that in other parts of the country. Therefore, tourists definitely feel comfortable during such hot days in Thailand.
In addition to Bangkok, the most dynamic tourism city featuring a variety of bustling shopping centers and amusement parks, Chiang Mai, which ranked the second of top largest cities in Thailand, is totally worth mentioning. It promises to afford unforgettable experiences for tourists during their trip to this amazing city.
This city is considered as one of the “must- visit” tourist attractions in Thailand for the following convincing reasons.
1. “on- a- budget” travel and comfortable transportation In recent years, Thailand has been a popular destination for tourists from Vietnam because of easy travel, short flight routes of reasonable prices, and more importantly, cheap spending. Thus, it’s quite easy to get to Chiang Mai city.
2. The right place to find yourself If you are so familiar with the modern and bustling Bangkok
city, you should definitely give Chiang Mai a try. The city located in the North of Thailand is beautiful and peaceful in its own way. Featuring the perfect combination of temples complex, trees, parks, Chiang Mai is undoubtedly an ideal destination for those who wish to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the urban city. Of course, there is no shortage of famous tourist spots in this city, but for the reason of the environmentally friendly ones, I would recommend Botanic Garden, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phantao, Chiang Mai Zoo, Doi Inthanon, Grand Cayon, etc.
3. The amazing Yi Peng Lantern Festival Yi Peng Lantern Festival is annual held in November in Chiang Mai. The festival is considered as a "miniature” of the Loy Thakrong Lantern Festival, but it also has its own features. While the lanterns at Loy Thakrong Festival are dropped by water, those at Yi Peng Festival are flawn into the sky, in which tourists would definitely be overwhelmed by the “heart- melting” scenery facing them. It is such an amazing experience to enjoy the “full- of- lantern” sky.
The lantern is formed by paper (made of rice flour), wrapped around
bamboo nets that are extremely simple and environmentally friendly. The rites and rituals are performed formally during the whole festival. Thus, it is entitled one of the most “worthy – attending” festivals when visiting Chiang Mai. We all surely want to hold hands of our loved ones and fly our innest wishes into the sky, right?
4. Bustling night markets Thailand has long been known for the bustling night markets, and of course, Chiang Mai also offers crowded night markets, particularly Night Bazaar night market.
Walking around the markets, you definitely find all kinds of things, from the unique ones such as crafts, handbags, jewelry, souvenirs to second - hand items. You must be impressed by the variety of goods, reasonable prices, and the friendliness and hospitability of tradesmen. Give it a try!
5. Ideal place for packbacking and sightseeing As one of the most famous tourist attractions in Thailand, Chiang Mai is a favorite destination of pack backers because of the charming scenery along the road. The most breath-taking scene that is worth mentioning is Mae Hong Son Mountain Pass featuring small villages, murmuring waterfalls, blooming wildflowers coloring the sky golden yellow.
Additionally, the picturesque Mea Tang village is successful to capture the attention of tourists, especially foreigners thanks to the rustic beauty. Get there, you might feel as if you traveled around the countryside in Vietnam.
6. The home to charming resorts, homestay, coffee shops In addition to trees, jungle, zoo,.. that certainly grasp the attention of tourists right they set foot in, Chiang Mai has attracted travelers with a chain of charming resorts, guest houses, and coffee shops.
The most famous type of resort in Chiang Mai is the Tree House, namely Tree House, Jackfruit Cottage Treehouse, Rabeang Cottage Treehouse, etc. These resorts are built by bamboo and natural materials, wood, for instance. Interestingly, they are housed in the middle of the forest, in which you will probably have memorable experiences. Additionally, there are other resorts to be provided with modern conveniences such as swimming pool and luxury services. Therefore, you can choose the one that satisfies your need of relaxation.
As Bangkok, Chiang Mai has numerous coffee shops grasping distinguishing characteristics. Stepping onto or even dropping by the coffee houses, you have a chance to take “thousand-like” pictures to show with your family and friends.
Moreover, some of them offer traditional clothes, souvenirs, etc. How amazing!
