Dashanbao is about 78km from Zhaotong, 3000m above sea level. The trip was full of potato and corn plantation on both side of the road, in between there are leechi and peach tree. It was a 5 hours trip on a bumpy road. The main attraction in Dashanbao is the black neck crane, but unfortunately it wasn't the season to see them. the area had been made a preserved park, although it doesn't mean a thing in China, the area was so green that good for sheep breeding. Took a walk to the Jigongshan area through green pasture, it was at the edge of the neighbour Ludian county, the precipice created an abyss and many deep gully along the mountain side, and today was full of cloud and fog that you couldn't see what lay underneath the valley. A great walk today, there was waterfall, wild rocks sprouted from green hill surface, and fresh and warm enough for hike in this altitude. I was worried about the temperature before I came up here yesterday, as I didn't had any warm clothes with me, but then it turn out to be a very comfortable climate up here. In fact, I got
sun burn!

Thunder and rain cut short my stay in Dashanbao, there would be a lot of hiking opportunity if the weather was fine, so I made to my next destination to Huize, said to had more than 2000 years of history. the smeltery of Huize was an important place in Yunnan in the old day, the copper mine in the area that produced coin for the empire, made Huize a commercial center, many business merchant came to settled down here, like any other old trading center in the world, Hoian in Vietnam or even London, there was many community hall for immigrants still existed in Huiz, of course...couldn't go without the Wenmiao, and many different temples. But guess I wasn't here at the right time, the whole town seem like under renovation, look like another chinese style old city will be born in no time.

Pickpocket???!!! Never cross my mind, but it happened on my today, guess everything must has a first time. Got into the bus to Dongchuan together with many other squeezing on broad. Settle down and the guy in front smiling said to me something I couldn't understood, "sorry I
don't understand "I told him, then I noticed people around all looking at me, finally some one said in Putonghua "your wallet had be stolen ", I felt my back pocket, empty! Shit! People around all discuss together in light laughter, how that guy pick my pocket while I loaded my backpack onto the rack. Damit. I told him why you didn't stop him? "I told you" he said, but he told me after the thief had gone! "It could happen to you all one day" I said, "what will you think if I saw someone pick your pocket but not trying to stop him? " no answer. I was angry of myself, not because of the money, but about my carelessness, perhaps living in the mountain too long, my alarm had lost its sensitivity.

Another last minute destination, Hongtude, the land of red earth, only about 50km from Dongchuan, said to be very beautiful offered many colourful scene, and great opportunity to hike around. Again...not in the best season to see the best scene, but then got more privacy with no other touriist. Took no more than 2 hours by bus yesterday, met another Taiwanese travel
on the bus, so...got company. We got drop off at a road junction, left down to Kunming and right up to Fazhe. Here got couple of guesthouses and more under construction. Find one offered single room for 20 yuans, not bad a deal, as most other charge 15 for a dorm bed. The area had many layers of round hilltop, grew mostly potato, corn, barley and buckwheat , so the land was like thousands of patch work on the hillside in red, green and yellow colour, people were busy in barley harvest at the moment , childern help laid wheat to dry on the highway, mule cart shuttle around with man standing and navigated on top. The scene was beautiful but not very spectacular though, and the walk was mostly along the highway, which I hope to be on the small trial. Anyway we did made the effort to tee off into small path which was more like hiking. We got lovely sunny day, on this 2500m highland was fresh enough to walk around. But today my camera not working again. A vision of a new camera appeared in my mind. but it got to wait until next year. Anyway...Think it
was time to wrap up my trip and back to yy.
