the climb begins
the end of the road for the #5 bus Wednesday June 16th was Dragon Boat Festival. This festival is on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar every year. Seeing as I had the day off from work, it was a good opportunity to see more of the area. A few of the teaching assistants at my school and their university friend (who is Japanese) went to Longma Mountain in the morning. The hike up took somewhere around 2 hours. There were a couple kinds of berries to pick along the way (one kind was very sour and not ripe at all, but tasted very healthy =), and fiddleheads (young ferns).
I was coming down with a cold, and had a very sore back (too much basketball) that day, but I had a great time, nonetheless. My friends are funny and we all sang a lot along the way. I even heard "if you're happy and you know it..." sung in Japanese.
A good outing all around.
