The mountainside and dirt often had a tinge of greenish blue from the rich tungsten deposits natural to this area.

The Half Way guest house is not only conveniently located, but also serves up a great lunch with spectacular views.

Outside dining in fresh air with fresh foods. Great! Here for 17 years, this is the first guesthouse in the gorge. The owner tells me he has hosted people from 57 countries and feels he has a happy life.

The friendly attitude and hard work ethic impressed us all. Their son, hoeing the field, looked no more than 5 years old.

Pine floors, open air, drying corn, stone - very charming construction.

Up close, these gray mountain peaks look cold and uninviting. Due to Naxi spiritual beliefs, these peaks have never been tread upon by humans.

Appropriately named Jade Dragon, the line of 13 peaks resemble the crests of a dragon's backbone.
